I have a black 99 eclipse the question is which of the following should I go with I have a number of options.

I want Rota Grids, they are the same as the Volk TE37, in a bronze I could do gun metal but everyone has them (the bronze thats closest to gunmetal NOT the gold ones) I want 17s but they only come in +35 +45 +48 offsets, reading around I feel the 17s may rub with +45 and should look to go more around +40. These do come in 16s in +40 but I want 17s since this is a driver and not a drag car wanting bit less tire. Here are my options:

17 x 7.5 in a +45 offset

17 x 7.5 in a +35 offset with a 5mm spacer

16 x 7 in a +40 offset

Pictured below, 1st is the bronze color and the 2nd is the Gun metal

Yes I agree the question is which is the best size and offset use. I think that I may be wrong about and it should be a +45 with a 5mm spacer and not the +35 with the 5mm spacer to get the overall +40

I think you're a little confused about what offset is. Adding spacers decreases the offset. To achieve a +40 offset, you would use the +45 wheel with a 5mm spacer. Adding a 5mm spacer to a +35 wheel would be like running a +30 wheel. Think of it this way...the farther your wheels stick out, the lower the offset is.

To answer your question, you should try the 17x7.5 +45 wheel, and if you run into clearance issues, try the spacer. But don't automatically assume you need the spacer, because it's best to avoid using them if you can.

wow, this is from over a year ago ROFL

I have rota grids and they've been on the car for about a year. 16x7 in +40, perfect fit. I also have rotas on my 2G in 17x7.5 in +45 they fit fine as well.

Theres a lot more out now for 5x114.3 which helps for people interested now

haha crap, I didn't even notice the original post date. And here I thought I was actually helping somebody :p
