So my friend has an 06 350z. I think they run around a 14 second flat 1/4 mile. I must beat him. One of my good friends but way too cocky. Help me build a car that will beat him. Im not goin for a Drag racer. At best my goal would be 13's. Check out my profile for my mods. (close to stock) Also im on sort of a budget since im 18. Ill have more money this summer but for now i need some ideas on how to hit low 14's to high 13's.

I seen one at the track that was really slow for some reason. I dont know if they are all slow but if it runs like the one i seen you wont have much problem beating him with a few simple things. Id start off with an exhaust and a filter. How much money do you have to spend

Not much right now. I know i could get a bigger turbo, fuel injectors, and fuel pump once i get some money, but until then i just want to know how i can give the 350 a run for its life!! I spent money on my sound system right now and was holding off on performance but cant wait....:sneaky: I need some speed!!

Have you even raced him? Motortrend might say it runs a 14 flat, but there is a huge margin in comparing drivers. Just a few mods might have you really close.

Pull your sound system , interior, hood and hatch LOL

Just kidding but lose the sound system for the race.

Get a 14B for 100 bucks, maybe 150 after homemade install kit and misc stuff. lemme look at your mod list right quick

Get the 14B , an exhaust ( or even open downpipe for the race ) and an MBC @ 16lbs...then take em:sneaky: Thats like 210 bucks.

Well I suggest you start out with a new exhaust system, intake, possibly a boost controller if you want to set your psi slightly higher. Overall, if you are a better driver chances are that you two will be close. With all the mods in the tech guide from the 275-300, you will definately be the faster car.

If i get the 14b do i have to modify anything to make it fit and work. Ive looked on ebay and in classifieds and cant find much. Mostly cracked or bad 14Bs. Also how fast of a 1/4 mile could i run with a 14B.

My 14B pulls hard as sh*t at 18PSI.

You will need to run different lines mainly

You can modify the stock oil return line to work, just get a new oil feed from the dealer for like 20 bucks make sure you tell em its a 90-94 LOL not for your 2G.

as for the coolant lines....I cant rememrb if you can reuse them, but if not I know I used those brass fittings from NAPA. then all you need is a J pipe.

the 14B flows 405 cfm -$100.00
the t-25 flow 250 -$??
the s16G flows 505 -$350.00

Get the 14B

Run your stock 2G 02 housing on the 14b.....port it during the install ( 3 hour job probably to port it )

350Z's are not that fast. My brother owns a 04 with the limited slip. Does his have the limited slip? They also come with really soft tires that last about 10000 miles if you drive it hard. I drove the car many times, if you drive it with the traction control on its no fun. If you drive it with it off the tires light up all day through 1st and 2nd. It is a very fun car to drive, but they are not that fast. I raced him with my GST with only a 3"catback, act clutch and flywheel, b&m short shifter and Shep tranny. I couldn't beat him, but he couldn't pull on me, he had a constant half car lead on me.

Hes got the new 06 350Z (Faster than older 350's...hes rich), all stock right now, and a sound system in the back.

Intake, exhaust, MBC set to maybe 15PSI and some practice at driving. With just intake and exhaust on stock boost I averaged 14.4's with a best of 14.2, I just need to get a boost controller and turn it up to about 15PSI and 13's should be cake.

First off, you're all wheel drive right? Second the 1st gens come stock with the 14b. So wouldnt i need those two factors to run what your running?

Oh and everyone keep posting your opinons. All opinons are appreciated. I've gotta work on my econ essay due tomorrow. Ill check the post tomorrow. Thanks again!

alright..well from what i can see...you are OVER anxious!!! if you want to spend money on a 14b now...then hey go head!! but what if, since he is "rich", gets a new setup and whoops all over your 14b? id say let him be faster for now and get a NICE NICE setup in a few months. thats what im doing. it took me almost a year but im finally going to get my evo III setup in in 3 or less months. i know how it is being the slower car, but doing it right the 1st time will probablly make you happy in the long run.

butttt to answer you question...LOL...id say go to the free mods section. make a mbc. get an intake and an exhaust. port your exhaust manifold and o2. get some gauges if you dont have some already....this should make you car significantly faster already! all im saying is dont buy parts which you might replace in like 5-6 months..just save up for them now. feel me?

:tease: econ...ROFL ROFL ROFL ...enjoy..i know the feeling

Sorry didn't notice the FWD, I have friends with the same mods as me in 2G's still with the T-25 but they are AWD. Well the best mods for FWD is practice your driving skills, FWD is hard to launch and get good times with.

Im saying yes, WHOS WITH ME ?:sneaky:

I'm with EclipseTrbo420, get the 14b off ebay or the classified ads. I've bought a use 14b off of ebay and my 2gen was holy sh@#t fast at 18 psi. You will need a J pipe for like 20 bucks off ebay or make your own, I did. I made mine with my old rubber stock intercooler pipe. Redrill your oil return line flange to the turbo and get the 1gen oil feed and you will be all set. With this turbo, you might need a bigger fuel pump to run higher PSI, but no worries. Just rewire your stock fuel for like 10 bucks and you might be able to push 16psi, just make sure you get more then 13+ volt out of your stock.

Some nice sticky tires up front wouldn't hurt either. Also, if you practice your launching, you'll do alot better, try and experiment to find the perfect launch RPM.

As for mods on a budget:

14B
Complete exhaust system
MBC
Cold air intake

I have been practicing my launching. Ive found it works best (at least for me) to start at 3000 in first, shift at 4500 to second, run second to about 6000, and then third to 6500, and so on!

I cant wait to do more mods and beat the rich kids with expensive cars!

I say you wait it out a little bit and go with a 16g setup, It will give you more room to mod in the future and more bang for your buck. But thats just my opinion, i'm not dissing the 14b at all.

I say go with teh 14b for now. the 14b is no baby, espcially compared to the t25. Also, buy a used 14b for 100 now, and sell it for 100 when you want to upgrade. All you lose is the extras you spend on lines and gaskets.

Bench racing aside.....Your going about this all the wrong way. A 14 second rich kid with a stock is not a goal. You should set 1/4 mile or hp goals for yoursle fna dyour car not worry about other people's cars and then woprk toward that. Don't try and keep up with the jones's be the jones's. Save up your money and decide how fast you want to go reaserch and then build toward that goal. If you tell us how much money you have to deal with not just not much and give us a hp or 1/4 mile goal we can point you in the right directoion atleast.

good 14b - $150
used turbo back - $300
mbc - $25

no extra lines are needed for the 14b swap... just bend ## current ones, believe me it works... and as far as the turbo back, just run open downpipe until u get the money... and u can run 15psi (sometimes more) onthe stock fuel system.... that will take even bolt on 350z's

ownage in under 200 dollars....
