Hey guys! I'm 16 and I just bought an Audi a4 quattro as a dd..now that I got my parents convinced..its time for some fun>:) I am planning on getting a 2g dsm when I start busing at bostons. I'll make 8.50 an hour working part time but at least 30 hours a week. So you have an idea of money I'm working with. My over all goal for this car is 600 HP 2.3 liter stroked! But for now I'd like to reach 250 HP at the wheels..I'm pretty mechanically inclined for a 16 year old. I can rebuild engines. What would be best for me to reach 250 HP reliably..and maybe 275 if I really push the boost..I can get an evo 8 turbo for a good price if that helps? But tell what you guys think:)

That Evo 8 turbo won't do you any good, do some searching man. There are plenty of build threads around.

The Evo motors are backwards :p the turbos spool the other way if I'm not mistaken.

Most people use Evo 3 16g turbos, again do some searching man it will help a lot.

Captn

Wrong. I just did it. But you have to have a custom mani or a flange adapter with the evo 8 mani to turn the turbo around, you have to relocate the alternator, i actually removed my rad. fan. And all coolant and oil lines have to be changed. Unless you have good fab skills and a place to do it, the custom parts and labor alone is way more than the e3 16g. I wont say dont do it, because it is a better turbo than other 16gs IMHO, but research and know what youre getting into before you start such a project

Yeah I was thinking the turbo wouldn't work to great cause the evo is quite a bit younger than the dsm..I have been searching and I am having a bit of trouble..what I want to know is all the parts I would need and could preferibly leave in that would handle 400-500 HP in the distant future..so can anyone maybe make a list of parts? I want to look all these up so I can make my budget and start doing some planing.
Thanks guys!

I'm going to ignore the rest of your post other than this quoted portion until you have the car and better understand how difficult it will be for you to reach.

With that said, a good used or rebuilt 14b can get you to 250-300whp, it's a fun quick spooling street turbo and they can be had for cheap. Decide on a tuning solution, buy injectors based on your tuning solution, get an exhaust, a boost controller, boost gauge, a datalogger if it's not built into your choice of tuning solution, a 1G BOV and a wideband oxygen sensor. Take it slow and learn well what you're attempting before you do anything to the car.

Good luck.

Thank you..I do plan to take this slow and learn as I go..I'm just trying to get a base idea of what ill need to save and what parts I should be looking into if that makes sense..but that us exactly what I was hoping to see! And also thanks to the guy about who posted the maintience guide and the basics guide that was also of great help!
Say I wanted to try and go the 16g route..what would u need for supporting mods?
