just rebuilt my engine. my problem is the head is making all kinds of noise. I know they make a little ticking noise. but this is a lot more than normal. I got my head from clearwater cylinder head. its a reman. Any body have any ideas?

You need to find out where exactly the noise is coming from and what type of noise it is. Could be anything at this point...

did you bleed your hydraulic lash adjusters? Take a torque wrench and make sure all the cam caps and everything are torqued down to spec. If is still makes noise i would call them and make them stand behind their head and refund/replace it.

how do you go about bleeding the hydraulic lash adjusters? I cranked the motor over and over before i started it up. i also check the cam caps.

is there oil getting on the cam lobes when the engine is on? if there is oil it is likely that the lifters (lash adjusters) haven't adjusted themselves yet. when i do a head job they get cleaned really well and they make a nasty loud ass knocking noise for about 20-30 minutes if i simply let it idle. if i drive the car around the block it quiets down a lot by simply driving it a block or 2. you must make sure that there is oil getting to the lobes and rockers though. if oil pressure is low or zero it will eat up the cams and head at the journals.
if you take the valve cover off and turn the car on breifly you should get a jet of oil squirt from the holes on the driver side of the oiling galley in the rocker area. this is between the valves and the cam gears under the valve cover. if you make a mess with the oil then you have good oil pressure at the head. you can now press down on the rockers on the lifter side and some will feel mushy and push in quite a bit. this means they haven't received oil for a sufficient amount of time to adjust themselves. that is your knock. if there is oil to the head just run the car longer till they adjust. if they were cleaned right it will take a lot of time at idle for them to adjust

took valve cover off getting oil up there. oil pressure is around 30psi. i will just let it idle for awhile tomorrow.

your oil pressure is only at 30 psI? mine goes past 100psi at first start up. To bleed the lifters you have to soak them in diesel fuel to clean then soak in oil and collapse them causing the oil to go into them with no air.

idle is 30 psi after warm up. But the good news is i let it idle for 30 or so minutes fix it self like littlebeeper said +1 for him
