How about posting up the number on the ECU?

MB

Hi,

the number in the ecu are:

P/N p05269833ai 0526 9833ai

S/N t59eh007851366 11:01:27

i opened and the good news are that the main board doesn't seems to be broken but i have to test it first the problem is that as i said before DSM's in my country are very rare

thanx a lot guys

you should def. get some pics up. Im curious to see what you could do with that. Before you crank it up take out your engine and tranny and go over them. Your bell housing is probably shot. With them both out, fill them up with fluids and see if there are any leaks. On the plus side of this it will give you a chance to do some maintanance while its out. Do the timing and gaskets. Check for cracks in and out of the block head etc. Check your valve train for any snapped bolts or loose parts. If you can, get a shop to look at your transmission for broken parts. Drop the oil pan and check your crank and rods to make sure everything is up to spec. Check your cams for a bends and make sure your cam gears are ok. Thats about all i can think of. Good luck buddy

Hi,

i checked the engine oil level and tranny oil level and they are fine the cam gears are ok but we havent check the cams yet,

we are planning after the body work to open the head so we can check the valves (also will be nice to change the piston rings valve seals and head gasket after 134,000 miles)

a friend of mine owes a 2GNT 98 MT and he told me we can use his car to test my ECU, pictures i will upload them if you want to

my question is now that we have thee P/N of my ecu, is it a 98 or a 97 ecu? because my car haves the manufacturing date in the second week of 98 year in the drivers door (01-14-98)

any body know the part number of the 97 ecu and the part number of the 98 ecu?

best regards,

The same part number was used for both years. If you find this part number, it will work in your 98 M/T.

ok... sorry about asking again but if i cant find the ecu on a good price or just cant find it at all i am thinking the possibility of expending the big money and buying a AFX ECU from howell so should i get the one for the 97 2gNT then?

thanx a lot Paul,

I don't think all 97 and 98 ECU's are interchangeable, but those with this particular part number are. If you're going to buy a ECU from Howell, get the 98 model. You should know that Howell is notorious for extraordinarily long lead times, though. You being an international customer will only exacerbate the problem.

so, you are saying that i can use a 97 or 98 ecu on my car w/o rewiring?

or is that i can only use the ecu with that part number only? other i have to rewire the pin out

i know howell takes a lot of time delivering stuff but still i have a lot of time to be working in my car as you can see :coy: (just having fun of my misery)

I'm saying that if you find an ECU with the same part number with the one that's currently in your car, it doesn't necessarily matter which model year the donor car is. You car was made in very early 1998, so it's possible that it uses an ECU primarily found in 97 model year 2GNT's.

It's possible. It doesn't really matter though. The only difference between the 97 and 98 pin assignments is three or four pins.

hi,

I found an 97 eagle talon 5spd but the P/N is p05293190ac but mine P/N its p05269833ai

a friends 98's is a different P/N as well and on ebay i found 2 supposed 96's and both have different P/N and they said that came out of a MT also,

until I know 95 and 96 ecu connectors are different but in the pictures and i can see the same ones than mine in the pictures of "actual items"

whats the worst case scenario if I plug a different pin out in my car? my friend with the 98 says that he can allow me to try mine on his car but i don't know if i can burn something on his car or if i can tottaly kill my ECU in the case its still good

does anyone know something about this confusion about the P/N's? or how can i be sure about my pin out? any test? or anything? :(

I'm just asking because in the case my ECU its broken i can see that its kinda impossible for me to get the exact P/N

thanx a lot

Don't worry, you won't damage the ECU... the car may run a little rough if the ECU is incorrect, but you won't damage anything.

Hello everybody

just getting some news of my car,

we changed the half of the front clip the donor car was a 95 GS orange but everything fitted just right, next week we will be working on engine and we will see what comes out after the head removal

thanx a lot for the help guys, i will keep you posted about any news

Good luck! Changing the whole front clip is a rather ambitious undertaking, so I'm glad it went well for you.

we tried first to reuse the originals car clip but it was to damaged and we lost a hole month and the job was getting harder and harder because this cars structure is stronger than it looks so... I decided to go for it

we get a chain saw and we performed a cut where the hood ends and the another cut where the radiator begins and we did the same in the donor car,

and after a lot but a LOT of welding and soldering and changing the base of the suspension (where its located the trans rear mount) and the base where its located the trans front mount (sorry don't remember the name of them)

WE DID IT, now we are only gonna do some adjustments on the body, re-soldering everything so the structure gets stronger and then a full paint job

but before the paint job we are gonna check under the engines head and see what can we found there

sorry for loving this much my car :sneaky:

regards

Lol, I'm glad and sad you took my advice;
Manuel, while I appreciate your drive and determination in getting her back on her feet, the only way I could see you fixing the front end is with another clip (i.e. donor car). Are you aware of the limitations of uni-body cars? I know you are limited in your resources out there, but you will still need at least a front clip to work with.

I'm glad because you love your car so much, I'm sad because you got sooooo much work to do WTF :D

Holy crap, my man, that is a bit of undertaking :thumb: Congrats for getting her back together (literally). Here's hoping you don't have a problem with getting her to track properly.

Also, good luck on the head removal. Maybe you got lucky and she's fine.

Bullet, next week more news, but now that i will open my engine (for the first time) and after 140k miles i am gonna do a full rebuild

i already have a new timing belt, MLS Head Gasket and valve seals, and a lot more to buy after the opening

thanx a lot!!!

I'm glad to see that your making good progress on your rebuild.my car had the same damage, but on the passenger side.I cut back from the fire wall to the radiater support and took out all the damaged metal.I got the same size section(from a 95 gs) cut out from the scrap yard for $50.you have to make sure you welded every thing exactly the same as it originaly was,or your never gonna get your alinement right.I hope you did alot of measuring and then some to get everything square.I took my time and my tracking is perfect(same set of tires for 2years now)no pullin to the left or right. If you love your car as much as I love mine,I'm sure you will do just fine.Just don't rush it.show me some pics when your done I'd love to see how you made out!Don't give up!!!

I started looking at your pic again(that really hurts)and it looks like you should of cut off both sides.Replace the whole front clip.It looks like the motor pushed out the passenger side( I hope you checked that side out for damage. You might not see the damage unless you have another car to take exact measurements.I really wish you the best of luck!I'm so sorry,I know how eclipse owners feel about there cars.Good luck!!!

Hi People,

can you believe i am still here???

well, just some news about this issue, the car is all most ready (few details not finished yet)

a little pattience is needed to complete a huge challenge as this one

and i have some conclutions about this issue,

to replace the fuse box you need to change all the wiring harness that comes with it from the dash board to the engine bay (head ligths, fans, odometer) but you dont need to change the ECU harness

the AT and the MT fuse box are different and I realized that in the expensive way

there is a few thisng left but i am trying to fix them slow, now that the car is runing back again

i wanna thank everyone that helped me in this situation and here is some pictures about my car now (one wiper was missing but is intalled now)

by the way, one of the donnor cars had a pacesetter 4-2-1 header and now is installed in my car :sneaky:

best regards
