the tach should have 3 wires coming out of it , a ground ,a power, and a signal... the signal wire you will want to tap into is on the plug at the power transistor pack (wide skinny plug beside the coil pak) the white wire in the center is the signal wire ... you can use t taps to connect it but i strongly recomend soldering as t taps can work loose or even cut the wire into...
 
If your car is a turbo you can tap tach from behind your radio. Their should be three harnesses and a white wire on the far left harness. When I say behind the radio I mean behind the dash. Pull your center consol out and radio. You should see what I'm talking about


If its a non turbo than you can get tach in the engine bay

in both cars the tach is connected to the ecu


By the way every electrical connection should be soldered like he said above

you dont, the car comes with one already that is accurate within 100rpm at 7k rpm.

take that tach and sell it to some honduh vtec kiddie who thinks itll make him look like billy badass and adds hp. spend your money on something worthwhile.
