well when i bought my car the previous owner said that i will need to change the gear oil in the transmission.
changed it and put some if that lucas brand "hard shifting/Slipping fixer" and it felt a little worst than before.
it was hard to get into gear and out of. i looked at the bottles of the gear oil and it said GL-5 approved. read online and it said that GL-5 eats the Brass syncros in our transmissions.
so i left it in there for a few days to wait on the new royal purple gear oil. i got it from pep boys. they only had 2 bottles.our cars need 2.3 quarts i believe.
so i asked the sales people what can i mix with the royal purple oil? they said that i can mix Pennzoil syncromesh with the gear oil. so i did. put both bottles of royal purple and topped it off with syncromesh.
it was a little better to shift but i still have to force it kind of.
so i did this mod that i found out on the celica forums that they did.
which was to spray white lithium grease on the shifter linkage. that helped a bit.
so its still hard to shift into and out of gear. what can i do about it? i also heard that it can be the shifter linkage thats going bad. any ideas? this is making me not liking my car...
