help, engine won't start sometimes unless i give some gas

Gst engine won't start sometimes unless i give some gas, at first i thought it was the fuel pump but it runs fine after it starts and it only does it sometimes usually when its cold out and i drive it for for 10 mins and try to start it.

Temp sensor has gone kaput - why you have to hold the throttle open to start... and being cold as you say.

Don't know about that, I don't see how the temperature sensor would car your car not to start. I would have your battery checked at your local auto parts store, cold weather tends to drain batteries down, could be that. I would check there. If you have checked your fuel pump, you should be good there, I would go first with battery.

Got NGK spark plugs and my car starts like a champ. My starter is like WTF i haven't even engaged yet.

... everything works...mine runs great too and I still had DENSO W20's in the motor before I put in the NGK's.

I'm voting on a kaput temp sensor.

that's wierd, must be a dsm thing, cause i have never heard of that. how does the temp sensor actually cause the car not to run? i mean i can understand cam sensors, and crank sensors, but have never heard of this

Its a defense thing. if it sees no ct signal it will run rich to cool cyinder temps. its not that it inhibits it to start. but a rich cold start is always a trick one.

just be sure you get the right on and not the guage or ac one.
