Here is my situation, headgasket blew, car overheated. The head is off, and there seems to be cylinder wall damage. I know pretty much nothing about engine rebuilding. This is what the shop told me. The pistons scuffed the front and back of the cylinder walls. You cant see it visually but you can feel it with your nail. There are some scratches that you can feel with your nail. They dont "catch" your nail but you can definitely tell they are there when you run your finger across the cylinder. The scratches are not visible. There seems to be a slight dark spot also near the the bottom of the cylinder wall. I am not experienced so I dont know if thats normal or not. So is the block totally worthless now? I just want to make sure and get someone else's opinion. Thanks.
