Thunder Bay,
When I shift gears, I have to push the clutch pedal as far down as it can go. It's really annoying, and I don't know what to do to repair it. I really don't wan't to replace the clutch... does anyone have any ideas to what this can be? Or some way I can raise the pedal or something like that? Thanks in advance.

Unless your clutch is fairly worn, I'd think that it's a matter of adjusting the engagement point on the clutch pedal. I had the same situation on my GSX and it got to where I'd have to really mash the pedal to the floor to get good engagement. Anyway, this article should show you how to adjust for yours:

Let us know if that was it eh?

hey try ummm bleeding the clutch might be a bad slave cylinder or not enough fluid in the resivoir....

having not enough fluid in the resevoir will definelty do that, check for leaks around the slave cylinder, i don't think u can a adjust a clutch thats hydraulic

well usualyl fluid just does not dissapear from the resivour so im guessing its either ur clutch master or slave cylinder.

u have to pump ur clutch 2-3 times to get into gear right?

well galant ummmm read what was said see the order in which i said it???? i said bad slave cylinder or low fluid level ........they go hand in hand, with one you have the other

but on that note NASTYNAS just bleed your clutch 10 to 1 thats it trust me i have done so many tranny jobs in these things i got it down to a science....can replace a clutch in less than 45 minutes AWD or FWD

That's a pretty bold statement there. Yes it could be as simple as bleeding but it could also be others as well. Since you've mentioned it, "no guessing". ;)

I would LOVE to see you replace a clutch from start to finish in less than 45 min. on an AWD DSM with ALL of the parts still in place. LOL

yeah, i've changed about 20 clutches in an AWD dsm, and let me tell you, its impossible to do it in 45 minutes, I dont care how fast you are. Draining fluids, replacing fluids, getting the tranny to line up to the crank.........

I've had every clutch problem imaginable, LOL.

Yeah, check the fluid in the master cylinder. This will tell you if there is any leaks. There should always be fluid in there no matter what. The only way it can escape, is if there is a leak.

In all honesty, www.taboospeedshop.com has the best diagram and photos in their tech articles.

Press in the clutch pedal with your foot and allow the clutch pedal to come back. Then grab the clutch pedal with your hand and pull on it. If you can pull it and it moves, then the bushings in your clutch pedal assembly are shot. I had to change mine this year, and I hope I never have to do it again.

I think its just the slave cylinder(pardon the spelling)I had the same problem once, have a buddy push in the clutch pedal and see if fluid comes out from around the boot of the slave cylinder rod due to a bad seal on the piston of it...if not start looking at the master cylinder...open the fill cap and look for bubbles comming out of the fliud resivor to check for a master cylinder leak..also look for fluid comming out from the rod that your clutch pedal pushes into the firewall with...I hope Im helping you out and good luck fixing the problem bro.

undefined for all of you that dont believe me

i invite you to bring your cars to my house
if you need a clutch replaced but bring money with ya cause its gonna be in my pocket..
