i was driving, pulled over at a gas station bought some peanuts ### i was starving.
went back to my car and it wouldn't start. the battery is charged nothing wrong with it. we pushed started it and it works. push start is the only way i can start the car.
i need to drive tonight to visit family for xmas eve and i was to push start my car LOL. can anyone help me diagnose the problem. ill be spending my day off which is christmas under my car trying to figure out whats wrong with it.
im thinking its the starter. bt i had a friend come over and he said he can hear the starter clicking. im thinking its just the starter.
what an xmas present my beloved dsm stalls on me.
any input??? im going to check the fuses after i post this. btw the radio works, lights, everything works, so it cant be battery related.

if you want to know if it is a starter problem you can tap the starter with something while someone else has the key in the starting position and most of the time it will take off and turn, at least a couple of times (good enough to get to the garage to get it changed), done this many times in a pinch

seriously just make things simple for your self. If you think its a starter problem, pull the starter and have it tested. But im telling you to check all of your connections and make sure its all tight and clean.

problem almost solved. so after i posted this i had to drive to my girls house which is 40 miles away. the only way i was getting my tsi to turn on was by push starting it. so i gave me sister 5 bucks to help me push it. of course it started without any problems. now the thing is that i have an idle problem. my car will idle at 500rpm and sometimes die. i know its my isc. so im just getting another TB with all the sensors.
anyways i had to drive the car with half of my foot on the gas and break just so it wont die on me because then i would have to go out and push it again. the whole time i was pressing on the gas to manually idle it at 1000RPM and break when needed. i drove the 40 miles and to my surprise i forgot that i couldnt turn off the car until i was certain this was where i was going to park my car for the night.
i turned it off and with my fingers crossed turned the ignition on and WALLAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! it worked!!!!!!!!!
im guessing theres a connection loose. i will be spending my Christmas Day underneath my dsm making sure everything is tight.
thank you for all the responses. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
