hey guys.. i need some help as soon as i can. Here is my problem. I have a 90 laser fwd turbo and i changed the o2 sensor today. Well, i had to use the universal type because it was alot cheaper. According to the chart with the sensor, I wired it up correctly. This car is the first DSM i have seen with a blue, white and 2 black wires on the stock harness. Most (also, just like the universal) have 2 white, grey and black. Well, according to the instrctions, i wire the stock blue to the univ. black (signal), the stock blacks to the univ. whites (heaters) and the stock white to the univ. grey (ground) .. I wired it all up, but to make sure it was correct, i left the connections uncovered (i know, stupid) and started the car... ran for a couple seconds and then two of the connections moved and touched each other. There was a spark and the car died. So, I covered the conenctions w/ electric tape to conceal the connections, and i have a no start. So, i put the original sensor back in, still no start.. disconnect the harness, no start. The engine turns over just fine, it just wont start. I pulled 2 plugs and neither are fouled out. anyone know what this can be???

I assume that bzorped means fried? I can borrow a ecu to see.. but i need to know if you can use a awd ecu on a fwd turbo.. and it is a 90 model, so do i have to used an ecu from a 90?

to my understanding fwd and awd turbo ecu's are the same and that the 90 ecus differ from other years...I don't know anymore about other years but I know that a 90 ecu is different than a 1991 or above...

Well, I took the deck out to get to the ecu, and listened to it. When i try to start the car, the ECU makes a high pitched whistling noise. So, I called my good friend who knows these cars rather well, and he told me that the sound i hear is a blown cap. Does that sound right?
