Hello,

I recently bought a 1992 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD. It runs awesome, but sometimes it turns off on me. It doesnt happen all the time. It seems like when in idle, the car shakes a bit. Its not too bad. The car will turn right back on after it shuts off on me. I don't hear anything bad in the engine or anything like that. Im thinking i need a new battery because whenever i apply gas my headlights and my cluster become brighter. What can this be?

Please help me!

Thanks

Your light turning brighter means your alternator going bad not your battery. And about the car shutting off,mMm maybe your idle control or timing. Try rising your idle a bit. If that don't work then, check for base timing and the idle control valve. it might be cracked and be leaking.

Also, check the condition of your spark plugs and wires. Old plugs and wires may have a missfire at low idle when the demand for power is low. However, as 1sttimedsmr states, if your idle control is too low or your timing is off, it may cause issues too.

I would put a new alternator in and see if it still dies. It might just be the alternaor like you said.
