hey

ok so my friends 97 gst freaked out on us after we did a little work to it...

we did a 3" turbo back exhaust
Intake pipe w/ k&n
Upper S Pipe
Upper L Pipe
Greddy Type S BOV
Walbro 255 Pump (failed installation..read below)
Boost controller and 3 gauges..

when we tried to start the car the fuel pump wires were being piched somehow and they were all crossed up and it wouldnt start..

we fixed that problem and the car got running...then we replaced the headlight bulbs and my friend touched the stock bulb and blew it up....

no after that happened...when he would turn his lights on they wouldnt turn off...his windows wont roll back up, his CD player doesnt work and neither do any of his interior lights...

his turbo timer works and his car would turn on and run fine but none of his shit worked....

so the next day my friend tells me that his car wont even start...it wont even start clicking it does nothing when he turns the key..

what could have happened? do you think when he blew the bulb up it blew a bunch of fuses and thats causing the problem?

could it be the fuel pump?? i dont know why it would be?? eveyrhting worked until he blew the bulbs then it went down hill from there...

any help?

tim

Most likely you blew some fuses or just a large fusable link. I don't have a 97 wiring manual. Anybody out there with the knowledge of where the fusable links are (like 70-100 amp fuses) let this guy know.

most likely that is the problem. It is usually referred to as a fusable link in the older days (you may need this when you get a new one). Pull it and take it with you to the auto parts store (be carefull it might have screws/bolts holding it in).

This should fix just about everything.

1 common way of blowing this is by NOT removing either of the battery cables when doing work on the car. its real easy to touch the Alternator post while working around that area ( ive done it )

I JUST fixed the EXACT same problem. It was two blown fusable links and a bad alternator ground; though, the fuses could be your only problem.

The two blown fuses are the upper left two when looking underneath the hood at the fuse box.

Yes, it is bolted in, and yes, that is your problem :thumb:

I agree with the alternator/starter fuse.... obviously one problem.... so make sure that your neg battery terminal is actually clamped down...... i had to walk home from 6 miles away back when I had my escort because of that and my friend blew his starter fuse like that (car would be charged and as soon as the key went to start completely lost all charge)

also, in my eclipse for some reason if I have the screw out of the right hand side center console plastic piece alot of stuff stops working.... interesting since it all looks grounded somewhere else and the screw only goes through plastic into that piece of metal, but check it.... confused the hell out of me when i first got the car
