HELLP! car broke down! Please

Driving my friend home, I floored it, like I always do. but around 6k in first there was a loud pop( very comparable to fuel cut) and my car died and wouldnt start. I dropped the clutch and it still didnt start. Engine turns over, timing didnt jump. Whats wrong??

I think its something fuel related, ex fuel pump out.

Please share any ideas or knowledge, My cars stuck on the side of the freeway, again.

If you heard a "pop," the first thing that comes to mind for me is a intercooler coupler.

and headgasket, but more rare. your running too much boost if your hitting fuel cut. you can blow a headgasket or burn a valve that way.

Will the engine start with the accelerator pedal all the way down? It does sound like you just blew a coupler on your piping though and your engine is having a hard time getting the air/fuel correct because you have a giant leak.

I think the car would still start and drive with a blown coupler but, it would just run like crap. I remember when my friend blew a coupler he drove it to a parking lot and re-attched it and we drove off.

I checked intercooler piping its all good,
and yes I'v blown couplers before and it always manages to sputter to life.

I did check the oil and i didnt see any bubbles or change in fluid color that would hint to a headgasket.
My alternator however has only been putting out around 12 volts lately when under load. So im starting to think it could have something to do with that, perhaps the fuel pump wasnt getting enough power and burned out?

car still turns over fine, so i dont think the alternator is completely dead.

see if you have fuel pressure. unbolt it at the fuel filter and turn the key to on see if it spits fuel out.

i agree...does the motor catches a little but not enough to run on its own? i would start with the basics first... check for fuel and spark...when mine died out of no where with a loud pop it was because of spark... it sounded like a quick backfire

wouldnt it make more sense to unbolt at the fpr, alot easier to get to?
fuel filters a pain in the ass.

and i got it towed to maaco, where hopefully me and my sisters boyfriend whos a mechanic can look at it tomorrow sometime.
Just trying to figure out what it could be, and what caused it.

Could a bad alternator, which cant produce enough energy, burn out the fuel pump?
what else can cause a fuel pump to go out? if this is the case.

ya like stated above either disconnect the fuel filter or FPR and crank it and see if fuel spits out if it does its not your fuel pump. Possibly could be your alternator.

But theres still plenty of juice to turn the engine over with no problems, wouldnt that eliminate alternator? especially since the alternator isnt even used to start the engine?

I will be sure to check for fuel and spark tomorrow.

ya that would most likely eliminate the alternator but ya check for fuel and spark
