I Have the safc2 installed and it says after making a wot pull at idle I have about 3-7 counts of knock. The ic feels hot also and richening it up does not seem to help. I have not cleaned the ic or removed the fog light yet. Curently my 16g creeps to about 15-16 psi in 2nd and 3rd. I think it is knocking because of heat soak but I could be wrong? It has 0 knock at all rpms exept idle. All mods are corect in mod list exept I dont have the 2g mass on yet. Any help is apriciated.

Using the SAFC2 to read knock is innacurate. Don't expect the numbers you see on it to match anyone else's, or to necessarily be correct.

You're probably not knocking at idle.

If you driive the car normaly it knocks 1-2 counts on the safc2 and if you drive it hard it varies from 5-6-7 counts at idle. Also it showed 6 counts of knock at 6800 rpms and 8 counts at 7150 rpms. I need some help tuning. It seems to be running rich but, the safc says lean. My curent settings are 50% low and 80% high. My rpm sets are
Low thr 1k 30%, 2k 25%, 2.6k 17%, 3k 14%, 3.6k 14%, 4k 14%, 4.6k 14%, 5k 14%, 5.6k 14%, 6k 14%, 6.6k 14%, 7k 14%

High thr
1k 3%, 2k 5%, 2.6k 7%, 3k 10%, 3.6k 13%, 4k 13%, 4.6k 14%, 5k 14%, 5.6k 15%, 6k 17%, 6.6k 19%, 7k 21%
This is using the stock 450's
Thanks for any advise!

Do you have a hacked MAF? Those corrections are way high.

Are those knock counts off the logger or the SAFC2?

Not that we should have to look in his profile to help but it says he's running a 2G MAF and doesn't have a logger.

Still like you said those numbers don't look right. Anf the SAFC II knock feature is so accurate I didn't even connect the wire. Same for the "blue wire" mod, I didn't want the SAFC loading down my O2.

Ok, I think I solved most of the problem. The o2 sencer backed it self out aparently and was hanging below the fan. Scarry! I put a new sencer in and it runs and sounds like it should. I view the knock on the safc2 cause it is all I got. Now knock is 0 exept at 7500 it said 7 counts. I leaned it out a bit and it is still running rich but it is getting closer to where I want it. I am either getting a front mount or a logger next, I can't decide which would be better? So (people using an safc2 to view knock) How accurite is it??
Thanks guys!

Remember when I said this:

Why are you running the stock 450's with a 2g maf??? Richening the car back up with that setup is going to be tough.

I cant see how your running rich in the first place.

Looks like you need slapped around alittle bit. The logger should have been one of the first things you bought.

Slapped around some more. Its not accurate :talon:

Ok, I am running rich I think because of a bad knock sencer. I have never ran the 2g mass yet ever. My curent settings are completly different. (leaner) I dont trust the knock on the safc2. Not everybody just has an extra $250 lying around for a logger, softwhere, and cable. I just got my car running like a week ago. And I thought I said above the modlist was corect other than the 2g mass which I am not using. The car I need help with is the 91 TSI AWD. Maby I should have been more specific. I guess you can slap me around for not getting a logger but, yes it is my next mod after a new knock sencer. Has anybody ever thrown a knock sencer code after removing the bracket on the back of the block and intake? Maby it's a ground for the sencer? I can post my curent safc settings if anybody wants to see them. I hit fuel cut today at about 16psi in first gear then ran out of gas and after that my car started doing its thing where it starts up and dies amediatly and 10 min later its fine, other than that my day sucked. This car really ticks me off! Any other advise?

You did say that. That was my bad. I thought thats the 1 you wanted help with, and when i saw the 2g mas in your profile i guess it thru me off.

Never heard of it. I do not see how that would have any affect on your knock sensor unless you damaged the sensor somehow while doing that. And i dont think a knock sensor would make you run rich which if im wrong im sure i will be corrected. But the deal with the o2 sensor backing completely out of the housing, would have major, dramatic affects on the operation of the car. The ECU would have no way to see the A/F ratio let alone try and control it. That could make you run rich. By the way, how do you know your running rich without a logger?? Black smoke from the exhaust, friends logger or what??? This is what i would do if i was in your situation.
1. get the knock sensor replaced
2. reset the ECU
3. reset the AFC completely back to 0 that way the ECU doesnt even see the AFC
4. turn the boost down
Then get a logger and try to retune. I assume your borrowing someones logger cuz it would be impossible to do without one and you could, or will, really mess some shit up.

DSM's are good for that. I learned how to swear by workin on these things. Guess we both had pretty shitty days :talon:

My curent settings are:
50% low 80% high

I know it is running rich because it backfires like a mother f*****
These are low and high net points:
1k 2k 2.6k 3k 3.6k 4k 4.6k 5k 5.6k 6k 6.6k 7k

low 5,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2
high 1,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2

It is running alot better with these settings and it does not hit fuel cut anymore. I have my boost at 10psi and it creeps to 15 in 2nd and 3rd. I already know how to solve the creep problem. I will try 0 on all settings tomarrow. I put the idle setting at 0 already and I hear missfires, poping sounds and that is why it is at 5%. If you have a better way of tuning without a logger please let me know? I live in a white trash town with 20,000 peole so, there are about 5 dsms in this town and they are all stock. If anybody lives around Hastings Nebraska please feel free to help me tune.
Thanks for you help. I'll pay $25 to anyone who can come over with a logger.

Wow, you need some serious help man OMG PM me or look me up on AIM :talon:

Ya, I know. I tried the 0 settings on all and reset the ecu and it ran yet a little better but, it still backfires and the cel comes on. The worst thing I need to worry about right now is the thing where it dies and wont stay running. It starts every time and then amediatly dies. CEL on and coolant light on while it does this. It does this all the time now and I cant trust it anymore. Also when it does this I hear one click from the ecu and it dies. I replaced one bad capacitor and the others checked fine so I did not replace them. I can pm you from now on if you want.
