Hey guys, i have my built 7 bolt sitting in the corner of my garage with MLS headgasket and standard arp's torqued to 85-90 ft lbs I believe... well my build plans have changed and I decided to go big boost on a hx40 (40-45psi) so I bought some L19's to swap out for the standard ARP's and after installed I am going to torque them to 110 ft/lbs...

My question is, do you guys have any advice for swapping the standard ARP headstud out one at a time for L19's??

Ive read of people on here swapping to head studs one at a time on all stock motors so im assuming it wont mess with anything that was already done VERY meticulously doing it this build.

thanks guys

When I did my l19 head stud swap from stock ones on my 7bolt I did it with the motor in the car. One at a time I started with the middle and worked my way out per Mitsubishi specified torque sequence. So far 10k + miles and lots of boost strong.

There is a difference in torque numbers when torquing in oil vs moly/assembly lube. Keep that in mind. I dont know off hand but obviously the numbers will be higher if using motor oil as lube.

Thanks for all your opinions guys, I got em all swapped out one at a time. Torqued em 70 ft/lbs then 90 ft/lbs until all were swapped and then torqued each one to 110 ft/lbs and triple checked torque...

I think all is great and should be just fine :thumb:
