Alright so I understand ARP studs get toqued in the same sequence but different numbers, and it's best to use the molly lube. I was going to do 25-50-70-90 with mully lube on the studs.

Since this is a new engine and head, is it best to unbolt everything after the 1st torque and torque 2-4 times more? Or is this only after 500 miles?

Once the studs are torqued the first time, you take off the valve cover and retorque them to make sure they are all around the same torque. You do NOT totally take them out again and retorque. I usually just check torque within the first 500km.

Probably only do three steps instead of 4 & you want the last step to be the largest. If you make the last step too small, you won't get the proper torque value.

Is 90ft/lbs the correct value for your specific studs? (seems abit high for 7 bolt, standard ARP's IIRC). If it is, do something like 25, 50, 90.

Re-torque after ~500 miles. Loosen on nut at a time, re apply lube & torque. Follow the correct torque sequence.

I did 30 60 90. And will double check after 500 miles.

My question is. I could not find moly lube. But I used white lithium grease. Is this sufficient?

thanks for the reply, these are 6 bolt ARP studs going through a 2G head. Through researching most people seemed to think 90 ft./lbs. was safe. Some people +/- 5ft./lbs.

So I can just torque in 3 step sequence, just one time without any loosening? Just check after break in correct?

i was told by my machinist, which i question now LOL, that they do not need retorquing. i tested it anyway after 50 miles and he was right. they did not budge. also, when they put them in with moly lube the torque specs go down. keep that in mind please.

When I was building my engine I believe I did 35-65-90. I undid them and redid the sequence again and haven't checked them again and I'm running on almost 5k now with no problems and have pushed this engine hard quite a few times. 130+once and everything is holding good. Moly lube came with my studs when I bought them.
