I have search through the site for about 30 minutes now, and read a couple tech articles regarding the removal/installation of the head. I haven't found a thread that talks about the advantages of the ARP head studs. I recently had a head gasket replaced, only to have it go within a week. (Idiot mechanics didn't use a MLS gasket or the ARP studs I gave them). I've read (on google searched websites) that the ARP's basically give more "clamping force" or will not stretch as much as the OEM head bolts. I've read over on dsmtalk that ARP's are required if I desire to run more than 20psi. True, or a rumor? I have the ARP head bolts sitting in my living room right now, and I will bring these to them on Monday. Just looking for clarification. Thanks in advance!

Pretty much everything you have read about the ARP's is true. They are of very high quality and commonly used on race cars. The tensile strength is quite a bit more than oem studs/bolts. As long as you stick to ARP's recommended install instructions and torque specs you can reuse them too.

For the most part the oem bolts should hold a bit over 20 psi but the ARP's can hold quite a bit more and are always good insurance.

Good choice.:thumb:
