so this weekend Im tackling puting in a cosmetic headgasket, ARP head studs and new timing and balance shaft belts and wanted to know if anyone has any pointers? I need to know with a MLS cosmetic headgasket what the pattern is when tightening it down and how much torque is required? Do I need any sealer for the gasket or just torque it down?

For someone with an '05 join date you should know better...

Thats just a thread I saw earlier in the week, as far as sprays and torque #s go there are vastly differing opinions, a quickie search should give you more than enough reading material. Also, people lately seem to either forget or be ignorant about VFAQ, which is really a great resource, despite its age.

Also, you should seriously invest in either a factory service manual or at the very least a Chilton's/Haynes manual.

That should cover about everything, good luck :thumb:

If you follow the paper work that comes with the Cometic head gasket they reccomend to install the head gasket dry, and also reccomend a surface finish of 50 or better. Additional checks include ensuring that none of the rivets that hold the three layers of the Cometic head gasket together interfere with any portion of block or head. It is also good to veirfy that all of the embossments on the Cometic head gasket completely reat on both the deck surface of the block and cylinder head. You do not want any of the embossments protrude into, across, or through any water passage or void in either deck surface.

As far a torque goes follow the instructions that come with the ARP headstuds, and follow the tightenig sequence in the Haynes or Chiltons service manual. Also use the included ARP lubricant.

thanks for the info. Well I just got a call from my mechanic to get a complete stock 6bolt engine for $200 that came out of a laser and I was curious if my headgasket and ARP studs will work with this engine?
