Courtice,
should i pre-tighten all bolts to say, 50 pounds.. then tighten the first one to 72, and so on?
or is this bad. Its a brand new gasket

I have a 92 and ive been told its 72 pounds of torque.
any tips would be great for my head rebuild. THANKS PEOPLE :D:talon:

Old i know but this is completely backwards from the manual as well as everything you re tought as a tech. Always start in the middle and work your way out

And if you read well, you'd realize that what you quoted is 100% correct. First, it says "they should be removed in the following order" -- outside-in.

Then, it says they should be installed opposite of what is shown -- inside-out.

And for everyone else, the sequence is always the same. The only thing that varies between 6-bolt and 7-bolt blocks is the torque value.

So no answer on sticking a 2g head on a 1g block?

Nothing changes for this case. The sequences remain the exact same; installation is still inside-out and removal is still outside-in. Again, the only thing that will be important here is the torque specification, whether using a 6-bolt or 7-bolt block. Which head you use is irrelevant to what torque specs you will be using for the bolts that thread into the block.
