Curious to see if anyone has used the torque sequence recommended by arp? pros/cons? See pic attached.

I am almost positive that this is a mistake. The manual says "8. Following the manufacturers recommended torque sequence". But the illustration in the pic is not Mitsubishi torque sequence. What's more, if you notice that the illustration in the pic is a 420A head and 420A torque sequence. I imagine that who made this manual at ARP got confused and mixed up with 420A. I could still be wrong though.

after a bit of reading I found they listed this 4g63 sequence around 2010 and still to this day have it listed on their website, surely if it was a mistake it would have been picked up by now? Be interesting to know if anyone has used this sequence with any I’ll effects

That's definitely a 420a head listed by ARP. Somewhere I still have a paper instruction from them for 420a headstuds with the exact same illustration. I would follow a 4g63 torque pattern but perhaps higher torque.

Never have I seen that sequence before. I’d go by the one on the service manual since it’s what has worked for all of us over the years. Without pulling out my fsm, Pretty sure it’s the same as the 1g.

Would be curious what ARP has to say about that sequence they are giving out.

The sequence for tightening is from the inside to the outside, that would be the vital part. As long as your follow that rule the exact sequence isn't direly important

I did 3 steps of 30-60-90 on mine when I did not have the lube and did not have any problems on the generic arp head studs with a oem hg

I’ll probably get blasted for this but I decided to go the arp recommendation and run their sequence, I can report that I haven’t had any issues at 30psi. This is with Hks stopper mls, copper spray and new L19 torqued to 105. head was resurfaced but block was only checked for straightness and very well cleaned.
