Hello! I'm having some head work done due to a large quantity of "Hydro-carbons" in the radiator. Also, I'm replacing the timing belt at this time. My question is: Is there a way to eliminate the timing belt pulleys? I have heard thre is a way to remove the tensioner and idler pulleys but I do not know any more about this. any help I would appreciate! Also, is head porting a worthwhile way to go? Perhaps bigger valves?
Thanks ... mark:confused:

Ok, any help I sure would appreciate. I actually need some help on this. What I would like to know is ...the replacement of the Timing belt tensioner pulley and balancer pulley. Is there an item I can subsitute for these items? I :heard" "one" can remove them with the installation of a "balancer shaft kit". If so, where can this be purchased and is this mod recomended. I currently have a blown head gasket and now is the time to do some up upgrades on my 92' Eagle talon TSI, 165,000 miles

The pulleys your are referring to have nothing to do with balance shafts, they are to keep tension on your timing belt. You should replace both of them.

The balance shaft eliminator is a whole different apple. There is an okay write up on it on the vfaq:http://www.vfaq.com/mods/balance-shafts.html

This is recommended because if the balance shaft belt breaks, it could get caught in your timing belt and that = bad.

92Redman, thanks for the help and info! That IS exactly what I have been trying to find out! I'll do the mod. Again, thank you for the info! :thumb:
