can you reuse a comtec head gasket?

No! I wouldn't even use a Cometic headgasket new. Why why would you want to risk it? Spend the few dollars and get a new one.

i reused my cometic, just make sure that both your surfaces get decked, and you should be ok.

Ask Biglady on here about that stuff. I believe he has reused a few headgaskets successfully.

To me the costs are just not worth it. Pulling the head sucks, and it's not something I want to do if I don't have to. So do it right the first time and you won't have to worry. Seriously, how much are new OEM headgaskets like $50-90? Seriously.

Head gaskets are like condoms use them once throw them away and get another.

Check the vendors, id go with factory mitsu head gasket, (40ish)$ youll never have to look back when you do.

I would not use them new cause i had used one new and it was leaking out of the hg before the motor even ran.

Use the yellow button, it's not like that question's never been asked before....

In short, depends on what studs you use, how tight you torque them, and how smooth your surfaces are.

I wouldn't cheap out here as it's too much trouble and a waste of time to pull the head again. Just get the factory 4 layer HG (Part # MD349347) and some ARP headstuds if you don't have them already. Just make sure the head and block surfaces are flat and don't need to be machined.

Im actually getting ready to buy a head gasket as well and after reading that article about the cometic theres NO WAY im buying that!I think im just going with the mitsu mls 4 layer and some ARPs so I dont have to do this gain any time soon.Just my 0.02
