i plan to be changing my head gasket in a lil bit and i was wonder what all i need. i know i need a head gasket (getting a cosmetic) i also plan to get arp headstuds too. but what else do i need and can anyone direct me to good deals on the gaskets and studs. ps i hhave a 95 eclipse 7 bolt that will be going 16g soon as well.

Get a new timing belt kit and new water pump, since you already have the cyl head off. Go ahead and take off the oil pan and change out the rod and main bearings. While you are down there you can replace the piston rings. Kind of like a mini rebuild. You can get a master rebuild kit on ebay for 300.

I had my bottom end rebuilt with pistons and rings and bearings, pretty cheap. I tore it apart myslef and all i had to do was install the head, and a oil pan. I had the timing done as well, and the head rebuilt. Try any vendor here but i like extreme psi, bought lots from them and there fast. Arps are a great choice too.

does anyone know how long it will take and where i can find a walk though. this will be the first time im ripping apart a motor. i have some people that know a lil that will be helping but not the whole time.

A head gasket job a few hours depends on you, 4 for me tops. Not that bad, a write up, do you have a chilton book it walks you through.

i plan to get a chilton this week. for the rebulid would i be able to that within 2 days and for someone like me who knows enough with help. and would i need any special tools as my fiances dad has the huge chest for me to use but any specialty tools.

A allhead to remove the factory head bolts, timing is an issue, i let my mechanic do that. Thats about it, i took my engine block to my mechanic since it was already out.

the allen head socket you will need is a 10mm. These engines are very easy to work on, just think thank god it doesn't have a timing chain setup like a 740il BMW. Thats a nightmare. You can find all the forums to properly install your cyl head and proper torque specks with the arps in the forums. As of manuals, buy the haynes manual. It has pictures which are great for the timing marks if you dont already know how they go.

thanks maperformance, i will be picking a set up in the near future as ebay sells the set for like 199+ shipping, and i should be good as this site is very helpful. thanks guys, jeremy
