head bolts..

i have to put my head back on friday.. I want to put arp head studs in, but , i cant get any by friday.. are the oem head bolts comparable..??

Well, its comparing bolts to studs...very different clamping forces. ARPs are good to have for high boost applications, but the 1g OEM bolts aren't bad either. I'm sure they would work out fine for you if you can't wait...but I'd rather have the peace of mind and go with ARPs.

may be a stupid question..but.. can i use the oem head bolts and then exchange them later?

Sure, but you'll need to take the head off again. That means timing belt removal/change, and I'd change the head gasket again while your there. Just make sure you follow the torque pattern for installation/removal and you can swap them out anytime you'd like.

nobody in town sells the arp head studs.. so i might just have to use the oem studs.. i really dont plan on using a t3/t4 or anything like that..

Well then you should be fine with the OEM head bolts.

If you've got a bit more time to spare, Import Evolution got me my ARP head studs in 2 days. They are in Iowa and I'm in Michigan...I'd assume you'd get yours fairly quickly as well. If not, I'm sure you'd be ok with OEM.

Also remember to use the ARP assembly lube with them, and follow the torque specs on the sheet, not the ones in the OEM repair manual.
