Head and block options

Decided not to go with a JDM and go with a fresh new build from scratch..... so i ask you, wheres a good place where i can find a decent block and head thats not so hard on the wallet?

Wow, those are pricey. If I were you i'd seriously consider ripping your motor down and rebuilding it yourself (if you have tools and a garage). Most vendors charge 2 grande for just a shortblock with oem internals. Wait for a sale on a forged piston/rod combo and take it to a local reputable machine shop for assembly. I paid about $800 canadian for my eagle rods/wiseco piston set. Then the machine shop magnafluxed and hot-tanked my block, bored the slug holes 20 over, line bored it, polished the crank, and completely assembled it for $1000 canadian. They did a couple more things that I can't remember at the moment. Thats $1800 bucks for a forged shortblock that can handle all the shit i'll ever throw at it.
