Has anyone tried this setup

You will need to measure the physical dimensions of the pressure plate as well as determine the pivot angle and distance for it to release the clutch disk fully, and then confirm that the clutch hydraulic system can actuate the the pressure plate enough to fully disengage the disk.

Personally, I would recommend against using ANY XTD product as they have been notorious for failures, as well as the pivot angle and throw for disengagement may be different than Spec, RPS, Fidanza, ACT, or the proper SBC pressure plate. Some of those eBay clutches have physical dimension differences that affect fitment in the bellhousing as well as pivot angle differences which require changing the fulcrum point (shimming the pivot ball) to make it disengage.

I would recommend using the matching SBC pressure plate.

I ran a complete Southbend setup (PP and clutch disc) in a AWD 16G Talon. The clutch disc was organic/kevlar on one side and sintered iron on the other. I believe the PP was an XTD, which is what Southbend sells. For what I was using it for, it was an excellent clutch. Near stock pedal feel, grabbed slightly aggressive but no chatter, etc. Perfect clutch for a DD. I would buy another one if I had a car under 400hp.

Lol what? I don't think SBC sells XTD stuff as there own.

I also wouldn't say the XTD is notorious for failures, in fact I find it very durable. I cannot comment on releasing issues, other then I never seem to have any.

I'm sure the XTDpp with the SBC disc will hold power just fine, but it might take some finagling to get it to release right.

Tim, is there any guarantees/warranty on the SBC stuff? I'd like to try one, and hear that they are great. But it's hard to justify spending more than two times what I'm paying for clutches, unless its going to last twice as along. I usually get a summer out of an XTD, but I drive my car like an asshole. I do 4wd burnouts every time I come to a stop. It gets launched and run through the gears every straight piece of road I find. I litterally dirve it as hard as possible all the time.

Perhaps it was a DXD PP or something similar. Whichever PP comes with the SBC kits. All I know is I loved that clutch and it greatly contributed to the car... Sadly I sold it, bit I really loved that car and the clutch was one of the main reasons.

DXD IS South Bend Clutch. It is their car lineup, while SBC was known in the diesel world.

Xtd is most definitely NOT South Bend Clutch.
