with a stronger piece? I am trying to find out the dimensions and the size i would need. I put a heavy ass floor jack in my trunk one day and it proved to much for the stock piece. Thanks......

I made a new floor for my trunk out of 1/2" MDF. Easy way for me was to get two pieces of poster board, enough to cover the area, and use them to cut out a template. Buy the MDF and place the poster board template on top. Trace around and cut out. I then just carpeted it with grey indoor/outdoor carpet.

made up for it on the sides when I made the template from the poster board. I didn't use the stock trunk board as a template cause mine was shot. I taped the two pieces of poster board together so it would cover the trunk then traced a rough estimate on the paper poster board. Cut it out with scissors and tested it for fitment, repeated until the paper poster board covered the trunk with as little gap as possible. Then place this on the MDF sheet, trace it and cut it out. You may have to make adjustments to the MDF in order to get it in the trunk, I shortened the left side a little but extended the right side to have better over all coverage. Did you see the picture in my last post, that is it installed.

i did mine in my 1g afer i set heavy stuff ontop of the stock board and bent it real bad. I did basically what dontneed8 did. it works out good using posterboard plus you can fill in the spots where the original board didnt reach.

This is exactly what happened to me...LOL. I guess this is the only way to get the dimensions.

Yeah mines shot too, I think it stems from there being no spare tire / jack underneath.

Ditto, plus I have a heavy sub box on top, I just have an old piece of plywood in there until i make one like dontneed8, and I will carpet it black.

I know this is a super old thread, but that piece of wood proved to be quite the unicorn for me. Mine was trashed when I bought the car. Couldn't find a usable one at a yard. Hard to find one from someone "parting out" and then try shipping the thing. Dealership wanted $85.00 for a new one. I ended up going to Home Depot for $12.50 and getting the board, tracing and cutting myself. Took about an hour because I didn't have a jigsaw.

I replaced mine with a battery box. Then I tossed the carpet over it... Now its got a lovely hump under the carpet, instead of saggy board. Makes my car look like it has a little junk in the trunk. :sneaky:

I made a trace of cardboard, then found some nice plywood that was 1/4" thick, used a jigsaw on it and then used a spray adhesive on it with some nice automotive carpet over top. To finish it off I put some 1/8 rubber liner on the bottom to protect my trunk.

Looks damn good with out you using a jigsaw. Nice job man.

Agreed. What did you use to cut it out?

One question I have is after all you guys did this did it lessen road noise any? My previous owner did that and he cut 2 holes for speakers and just left the holes open so I'd like to know if it helped with the noise.
