Does anyone have a part number or specs for the Harmonic Balancer\Pulley bolt? Mine is bent and I DO NOT want to put it back in there. I have a '97 420A N/T.

M12x1.75x120mm Bolt

Part #M06503553

If you don't get this part from the dealer, you'd better be sure the replacement is damn strong... strong enough to handle 105ft./lbs.+.

Get it from the dealer. Not worth the risk.

I wouldn't use one unless it was Steel grade 10.9. But, the local Mitsu place can have one Monday. So, I guess I'll wait. it don't think it will hurt my son to be down for another few days. Does anyone know if this same bolt is available from a Chrysler/Dodge dealer? I wasn't sure if the harmonic balancer and bolt was the same on their cars or not. They might have it in stock.

Turns out that the water pump froze and broke the timing belt. Good thing I decided to replace the pump while I was in there!

Yeah, the Dodge/Chrysler dealerships should have the bolt. In fact, I go there for most all of my engine parts; they usually have what I need in stock. On top of that, I found that Mitsubishi has permanently stopped carrying many parts for the 420A.

So would they have the same part number? Or do I just ask for a harmonic balancer bolt for a 420A or what?

One of the best things you can keep in mind when you need OEM parts in a hurry.

When you go to the Mitsubishi dealer, you drive an Eclipse GS.

When you go to the Chrysler/Dodge dealer, you drive a DOHC Neon. (Assuming we're talking nuts and bolts type stuff, here.)

Exactly!

Dodge/Chrysler dealerships should be able to cross-reference Mitsu part numbers... but generally speaking, most all Chrylser part numbers are the same as Mitsu part number with the exception of the "M" at the beginning.

If you were to call your local Dodge dealer and tell them you need part #06503553, they probably wouldn't need to do any cross-referencing at all.

Another place to look would be the Mitsu CAPS project on the 2GNT home page. Dino's got most of the pages mapped and linked and it's a great resource. It will be moving before too long, but hit up 2GNT and take a look see.

Checked with the Dodge dealers today. Closest bolt is 3 hours away. Will be here Monday. BUMMER....

But then again maybe I'm an optomist thinking I'll have this all put back together by then!

BTW...Part number with dodge was part #6503553
