Hard Intercooler piping

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I bought the greddy intercooler piping at extremePSI. I tend to agree that it is just piping, EBAY may be good enough. My worry is always fitment. Greddy was perfect, no mods necessary! Only problem is you then will have to buy a Greddy BOV or cut and weld a flange for the BOV you want.

Isn't there like, a whole dsmparts catalog on this very own site even?

And a vendors listing?

Hmmmm. . . yeah, looked real hard.

I agree. ROFL

But to help out on where you should go to find a quality product is easy.
Like others have said if you look into what the vendors on this site have you will find that they will offer a pretty good selection of intercooler piping.

If you go the Ebay route, which I have done before, you can find people selling their used version of what you can get at the supporting vendors that they dont need anymore. It most likely wont look as pretty as what it did new but it will still function the same.

If your looking for a cheap one, Dave Brode sells an UICP for the 2g that utilizes the stock hose after the blow off valve. I have one and couldn't be happier as he includes everything you need: piping, clamps, bolts, blow off valve gasket, and instructions for install/paint. I ended up paying around $75 shipped to my door.

If you are interested, shoot him an email: [email protected]

Heres a write-up on the install:

Depends on what you get on ebay. One of them (from customcutmetals) is complete shit. Don't waste your money on that crap.

This place has some, though they're on back order currently.

Pain in the butt and doesnt fit well. You will may have to end up cutting the pipes. Ive given up for now and have the piping sitting here. I was able to do a 14b turbo swap by myself yet have trouble getting these stupid pipes to fit correctly if that tells you anything. I think im just going to get a FMIC and forget about the piping and cut my losses.

Don't be scared of ebay, just do your research. I would just wait and spring for a ssautochrome fmic kit. $300 and some change and it's all you'll ever probably need. It's even flanged for a 1g bov. Fits great and it's tried and true. Do it right, once.

You could always just make you're own if you are crafty and have the tools. Made mine for about $35. But that's on my 1G, so you'rs will have a little different design to it. You can still make one for cheep though. I'm sure someone has for a 2G.

Don't get the one Xeiros mentioned, he did a wonderful review on the EBAY one he mentions, horrible based on his findings.

Here is a nice one that popped up on ebay with a quick search:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-...tegoryZ33742QQihZ008QQitemZ180108146306QQrdZ1

Looks very nice, and not your usual 2.25 that most kits are. It's 2.5 diameter, beaded ends, and thick TB flange with nice welds, also look at the bov flange. Already predrilled for BOTH greddy and 1g bovs.

RRE also has their own upper ic piping, check that out too. Also goes to stock smic.

I had experience with RRE's and Dejon's. Both do the job. Dejon's TB flange is super thin. Both have nice build to it though. Dejon's skims on the coupler, has to be EXACT or you will have a boost leak. The powder coating is nice and does not scrape off easily. RRE's TB flange is thicker, but the pipe is shorter (weird design), they want you to cut your stock hose and use it as the coupler to connect to the "L" pipe.

As someone mentioned though, for $300 shipped you can get 2.5" short route UPPER AND LOWER ic pipes, along with a big phat intercooler--SSAC / XS Auto kit.

Do the math on how much you will be spending on just upper and lower ic pipes, it gets close to that $300 price. But I understand everybody has different goals.
