hi guys, so i just installed a vrsf front mount on my car and ive noticed the stock 1g bypass valve to be leaking air out at idle, i havent been able to come up with a solution for a recirc tube yet so i capped the intake and am running vta at the moment.

so heres the weird part, the car sometimes idles fine and i cant feel any air coming out of the valve. after driving the idle goes up to 2000 and there's a distinct whistling sound coming from the valve and i can feel air coming from it.

before anyone says to change the biss, the car will idle fine on a cold start at around 1000, but after driving it goes up. adjusting that screw would just cause it to die on cold starts.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the 1g bov's are supposed to be slightly open at idle. They are designed this way. Then once you start to boost it will shut.
 
They are open under idle. This is why you have to recirculate them. What do you think makes them open and function? Under vacuum (throtle off) they open. Helps that the intake is under boost at the time also but it's not a requirement to get the valve to open.
 
Leaking air at idle? Are you sure it isn't sucking air at idle? (Maybe that's petty and/or obvious, but I want to be sure.)

And, Bud, I'm not 100% that he needs to do a formal BLT to know that there's a leak in the intake path. It seems to me - and the OP should feel free to jump in and correct me - that the first post reports a known leak in the intake path.

Most of the time, its something simple, ohh this needs tightened or adjusted.No need for any test..

But good point, it could be a sucking he's hearing, and not air blowing out..When I got my hard intake pipe, It did make alot of things more audible...
 
Yes, I am asking if the fact that the valve is doing this could be causing my idle to raise or vice versa, meaning the increased rpm and lack of vacuum causing the bpv to vent more so at idle
 
Yes, it could. Valve is open at idle and unmetered air gets in. Car runs lean and idle rises a little. Vacuum increases and valve opens a little more. etc.

Figure out how to reconnect the CBV's tube and see if that fixes it all. Fixing that tube should be a very high priority, anyway.
 
Yeah, it is a high priority right now. However I can't seem to find a hose that will fit.
