Yep, had to take a sick day last week in order to get a good 8 hours to pull the engine. Started out at 9:00 in the morning and picked up the cherry picker from the local equipment rental place. I've never used one before so it was fun. Then I had to run to the local hardware store to get 2 bolts and nuts to attach to the mounting points on the block and bought 4 bolts with washers to mount the engine to the stand.

I got the fuel lines disconnected, the ac system disconnected (yes, I was bad and just vented it), and got the 3 trans mounts and 1 motor mount disconnected. I found out that my bolt on the rear mount was stripped so I took the mount off as well. With the help of my friend Jerry, we were able to get the engine out of the car with a lot of cussing.

Once we had it out, we realized we didn't have enough room to get it over the front cross member. To top it all off, a huge thunderstorm was coming in and I only had 4 hours left to get the engine out of my garage, trans disconnected, engine on stand, and cherry picker back to the rental place.

Well, 2 hours later, the engine is on the stand. I had a hell of a lot of trouble turning the crank but I got it turned so I could pull the torque converter off. I ended up saying #### it to the rear main seal. I just didn't have the energy, time, or patience to get it off before getting the engine on the stand. If I have to pop the main seal, then the short block is going to the machine shop and I'm letting them #### with it. All in all, it was a major accomplishment for me. Now I can work on it with 1 hour segments. Yeah!
