ok i have dumped thousands of dollars into my 2g, new turbo setup, intercooler, all regular maintenance, tuning software, ect. and the car still wont start! at first i didnt have a relay for the starter hooked up. thats now fixed. so then i thought compression, nope all 165. i know im getting fuel u can smell it ( and hear the wally at work ). i know i have spark ive tested it many times. and i made sure my timing was 100% in time.

now the only thing left that i can think of is a fault battery or fuel, but i have drained the tank once already and it never made a difference. and i have used my truck to boost the car as well and still nothing... im getting really frustrated and ready to part it out and move on buut i dont want to give up on this car :(

please any help would be great.

the car is a 95 tsi awd with a six bolt swap.

To me, it makes no sense. All you need for an engine to run or "start to run" is compression, fuel, and spark. If you have all of that, you should alteast be turning over for a minute or so.

How are your coolant temp sensors doing? They can cause a no start issue.

Are you sure your firing order is correct?

But it all has to happen at the correct time.

PS- dont give up, especially when you know its a simple problem. Once you find it you slap your self on the forehead and say DUH, I cant believe it was that simple. Then you look back and realize you gained a lot more experience than you thought.

Then you'll realize what a little girl you are for crying about your problem on the internet! LOL j/k

I would make sure your Cam angle signal is not 180 out. I have another question. Why did you waste money on mods before your car was running

why not? Just never made sense to me to throw money at mods and have it not run first. Could just be me though

crank position sensor

its a 6 bolt i dont have one...

start simple recheck everything. is everything plugged in? you said your getting spark and fuel so something may not be plugged in?

i have made sure every sensor and vac lines are all there and hooked up.

thats all it does is turn over, it just wont actually start.

whats the history and details on the car? when was the 6bolt swap done? has it started since then? Take it one at a time and keep attacking the problem.

1st are you asking whats done to the car as of now? 2ndly last winter but it was already wired for a six bolt motor, and when the car was parted out it was running. 3rd no but it was close once.

i have tried almost every combination. none seem to make any difference at all. right now it is set at what is on the coilpack

yes my cam angle sensor is degreed properly that was the first thing i checked. and because i bought the car as a roller, found a built motor and began a build.

thanks for all the replies guys... im going to hook up my ecm link and see if i can get anything out of that....

Its all about the basics air, fuel, and spark your overlooking something simple 98 percent of the time its something extremely simple and dont say its not cause it will be check your intake for plugs maybe a rag u forgot take off the charge pipe on your intake and see if it starts use starter fluid to see if it will start re check your spark to make sure its constant and non wavering hot spark always go back to the basics another thing check your exhaust to see if its plugged disconnect it from you turbo and see if it will start and recheck your timing once more check with your manual its just a simple machine if it had everything it needed it would work you can do it:hellyeah:

Well if you are positive your cam angle sensor is correct, I'd check for dtc's and hopefully of you have any it can lead you in the direction of the problem

check you spark plugs wiring order, had this same problem with mine. Even had it sent to the shop and all they did was clean my plugs reorder the wiring and boom start up after 3 weeks of sitting..

yeah there are several different things you have to do with firing order on a 95-96 6bolt swap that you don't have to on a 97-99. check the order at the coils first and go from there. do you have dsm link? you can actually invert the signal through that.

You say you have tuning software, what is it telling/showing you? Is it dumping so much fuel that it wont start, are you in clear flood mode while cranking, plugs gapped correctly, have you tryed it with your tuning software zeroed out/factory setting. These are just a few off the top that i would look into.
