Ok, I'm looking to get a 2Gb GSX with a crankwalked 7-Bolt, so I can get a good deal on it, and swap the engine... now, what engine should i put in it? 2.4 liter engine or the 1g 4G63 6-Bolt, or is there something else? I don't know anything about the 2.4 liter, so... maybe a dumb question...

If you are asking, then I will say a 6bolt. The 2.4L is nice, but it is a torque monster also has a few different things going on. Stay easy and make some decent power in the 4G63. :thumb:


Also probly cheaper aswell on your wallet.

I'm not getting it tomorow! I have time to read up on the 2.4 and learn what I would be dealing with if I got it... which is why i asked.

The 2.4L will be heavier... so is engine response a lot worse or what?
 
A 2.4 involves alot of engine work and machining. you will probably end up having spent the price of finding a non crankwalked 2g with say 70k. I would stick to finding a 6bolt and just dropping it in.

Easy

The wieght is nill for the performance you would get.

What kind of car are you looking to have? Are you handy on a DSM already? Do you have a 2nd car? Is your bankaccount ready?

These are the questions you can ask yourself. I just don't see why people are so quick to jump for a 2.4L when the community has been making enough power with the stock 2.0? Just an opinion, which is what you were asking about.
 
I'm not jumping for the 2.4L, I'm just looking into my options, and if they are that much better, I say why not go for it, but what kind of prices am I looking at? I can afford some more expenses than just the 4G63... the reason I want to find the crankwalked one is so I can get it cheaper, and have the 2g, with a better engine than the 2g's came with.

How much extra work is involved? I am good with cars, and so is the rest of my family, and I have a lot of friends to get help from when I need it... my dad owns a machine shop, so I can do some machining there (some, not all)... I have totally rebuilt my 420a... but thats not a 2.4L engine... and I don't know a lot about the 2.4's... I dont need to be a DSM genuis do i?
