Alright so I have a bit of a problem. I have a 91 eclipse gsx Auto Trans, and from what I hear it's in limp mode.. it just started doing this yesterday after I converted it to rwd by taking out the front axels. But I left the part of the axels with the c clips in the Trans so fluid won't go everywhere. So I was doing some burnouts, all was good. Went to take off and she wouldn't built boost, then I realized that from a dead stop, the car would stay in 3RD gear, even if I would put the gear shifter into 1St-2nd. Its always in third! :( please tell me its a senor or an easy fix?LOL

If you didnt weld your center diff, I think you're going to blow it up. The lsd is going to be constantly working and heating up in order to lock up.

Agreed, your tcase is def on borrowed time if it's not welded, and that wimpy rear diff probably won't last long either. Weld the tcase and shove a 3000gt or mustang cobra rear diff back there!

I agree that this is not a proper way to convert to rwd...it will work for a while. kinda like a stock motor with a [email protected] will work for a while too. How long? eh...who knows. If it was me I'd weld the center diff, properly.

ok so now i have no forward or reverse gears.
i was taking it out for a drive and next thing i know is that she wouldnt go into gear after and stop sign, so i restarted the car a cuple times and it finally went into gear. long story short, ended up getting it towed home because i think that the tranny is shot now.
next day i ran the codes. came up with (first gear ratio is incorrect) and there was another code i believe to 9 long pulses and one short pulse, 93. well the chart doesnt go up that high.!, im at a lost. ive never thorn one of these trannys apart and i dont really know any one that has, what do you guys think i should do?

I highly doubt the trans is toast. It's more than likely your tcase just finally gave up. Pull the drain plug and watch the shavings pour!

This thread was like watching someone blow up their transmission in realtime. Who knows what you broke dude. That center differential is only supposed to work hard intermittently (like during wheelspin). Operating it continuously like that, and doing donuts none the less, probably completely destroyed the center diff and things attached to it. I could be wrong, but I think the center diff shares fluid with the transmission? If thats the case the whole thing is probably done and you'll need a new transmission.

The center differential, both auto and manual are lubricated by the transmissions fluid. Its the viscous couplers in both transmissions that are sealed from the actual transmission fluid.

It sounds like you burned out the viscous coupler inside the trasmission, and cant move because of it.

Maybe, as long as the center differential didnt get harmed from the viscous coupler being burnt out.

When you remove the front axels like he did, the spider gears inside the center differential will immediate take the path of least resistance, which is obviously the front axles, as soon as this happens, the viscous coupler locks up and then sends the power to the rear. Now normally this is only supposed to occur when there is slip, but whith the axles removed the coupler's fluid lock is engaged 100% all the time in order just move the car, and this will burn it out. So if the viscous coupler is burnt out, you have no lock to to the rear diff, and cant move. Now if he tries to move the spiders in the center diff are now spiining more than usual and can burn out, but most likely are ok.

His codes are probably from the speed sensors picking up input speed, but no output speed.

You may have just broke the spider gears in the center dif...Might still be fixed by welding it up.....
