So i have no clue what it is, but when im going fast and high rpm's the engine i guess you could say cuts out? At high rpm's but inly in 3rd gear, i recently bought my car so i have no clue how much psi im running, and the people who had it before me had the top end rebuilt, nothing else, it was a terrable rebuild in my opinion the intake was even mounted, looks to be missing multiple hoses, missing multiple bolts ect, well the car has 160k miles on it and since the rebulit less than 2k on te top end, its a 4g63 engine not sure if its 6 or 7 bolt and was upgraded to a 16g turbo. I dont know if the manifold got switched when the turbo got upgraded. Anyways it drives perfectly as just a daily driving car, all the gears other than third an reverse havent had any problems, for some reason when in reverse it will pop out of gear and you can hear a grinding and it still pops out when i keep my hand on the stick, and back to 3rd gear its happened 2 times to me where the engine completely cuts out for a second and the whole car jerks like down shifting at too high rpms, it lnly happens when goig fast first time it happen to me was around 80-90 mph and 6.5k rpms second time was about 70mph and 5kish rpm's, i have no clue what it is and if it happens again if it could blow up my engine or something? Sometimes theres a little oil leak if my cars sitting for a day or 2 and ive looked into it and all ive came close too hearing was my gears are just slipping because the transmisson and bottom end are trying to keep up with all the power the top ends putting out. I havnt had a compression test or anything since ive got it so i cant tell you much more than what i can look at

Could be a boost leak, sounds like fuel-cut. I've personally never hit it, but its been described to be bad enough to where you should be looking for your tranny behind you. Could be bad timing, who knows.

Specs would be nice on your car other than:

"I believe 7 Bolt".

Specs is short for "Specifications" not "Guestimacations"

What boost levels, what injectors? Stock ECU and stock fuel maps?

The 16g can out-flow the system and cause fuel cut. . Is there a boost controller?

Manifold pressure would be a great help here, you shouldn't hit boost if you don't know how much boost you're hitting, that's how these cars get blown up and called "Junk".
