My advice would be to find a local one in a scrap yard, and pull the full interior. If it was going to be dedicated track car, you have a good start for a sheet metal dash.

Now's a good time to give everything a good cleaning. When I removed my interior, I spent days cleaning the seats, carpet, and the floorboard. Also took this time to inspect all of the wiring and remove some rust that had formed. Not many people will notice but it's the little things that matter.

Some 1gs came with red interior factory so you may be able to pick up some red oem carpet instead of dyeing your current carpet.

Don't do "JDM" style. There is no JDM for DSMs. These are USDM (and EDM to a limited level) cars.

I don't know what the stock carpet is on 1Gs, but you might consider black if it isn't that way already. It's nice a classy. Otherwise, an really dark grey would work, and it wouldn't show dirt as easy.

Yeah, from what I hear, it looks like a porno movie.

Black is pretty good. It does show dirt a little easier than grey (even very, very very dark grey), but it looks good on just about any car, without being too tuner flashy.

The red is a very rare color, but you might get lucky and find it.

I have seen the red interiors. Had a friend own one in high school. I hate that color for the interior. Who came up with it? I don't know but I could kick them right in the *** for it. Don't go with that color please.

Look into doing the dash in suede. Or black dash with tan interior like some of the 2g's came with. The Tan/Black combo is bye far my favorite of all time.

Lucky? Red was the worst of all the interior colors. I usually saw it in Lasers.

To each his own my man. I have had 2 DSM's one with gray leather and gray fabric in my current 95. I am a fan of the tan I was just putting it out there.

I love my porn-red interior, though I always have a friend nagging me to swap that nice "checker board" black/grey interior in. Just don't have the heart to do it since my interior is clean and looks great with black floor mats.

ok well tan won't hide anything dirt/stain wise. unless you like to clean religiously and don't eat/drink/smoke or do anything other than drive it when its nice outside it will look bad fast. light grey is a little better at hiding dirt/stains but not by much. dark grey imo is best for looking good for the long haul with black a fair second. so if its a dd i would go drk gray or black. 2nd car or show car go with whatever you think looks good and don't worry about what any of us think as long as you like it.

I like the red too, but i love my checker boards i got from a donor car years back amazingly there about a 9.5 out of ten. Love the red carpet though.
