:p I work with a guy who swears he will bust my ass with his stock SS Camaro! I own a GST with a few mods. here are my mods- Killer 16g turbo, Big greddy fmic, HKS Hyper exhaust w/ downpipe, turbo xs bov, xs manual boost controller, K&N air intake, RC 550 injectors, Walbro 255 pump, and Apexi S-AFC. What do you guys think???

Drag radials make a sugnifigant difference on the car so those are not a "light" mod. I have never seen a LS1 "bone stock" run 13.2 without drag radials and a cut out. And we have at least 20 of them show up on test and tune. Even then I don't know if the guy had more done to it. Hey, I'll be the first person to admit thier badass cars. Heck look at this.

well lets look at this...my 5000 dollar stock 4 banger can trap about 10 mph slower than your BEEFY v8, all while getting much better gas mileage...no camaro runs 13.0 without slicks. As the guy above said slicks arent a minor upgrade. Oh yeah dsms are fast, and I grew up around old school hot rodders, at leat some of them can admit the truth.
 
look I said stock, drag radials were worth .25

bone stock nothing done at all 13.25 @ 107.8

drag radials 13.009 @ 107.5

you were at 94mph that is a 14 mph differance...thats a lot

I also will argue with you about gas milage...but you probably wont believe me on that either...When stock I got about 23mpg on the Camaro...


I never said DSM's couldn't be fast...thats why I bought one as my daily driver...

check out ls1.com or ls1tech.com and look at stock quarter times...
 
I wont disbeliev yopu on the gas milage...mostly highway I would think. What I said is that dsms are fast stock, teg r's are quick, my old civic was quick. Stangs, DSM, ls1 are fast...as someone said before Ill believe low to 13 flat times on a stocker when I see it other than that I see high 13s low 14s. Still a force to reckon with.

Yes a 16g with a few mods ie fuel air boost control if tuned right and a good driver will beat ls1s.
 
A stock LS1 will run 8.50s to 8.60s at 84-86 mph in the 1/8 mile. They really respond well to cat back exhaust and air intake lid. With two mods they are right at 8.10 to 8.20s on regular radial tires. I have just become very interested in the DSM cars. My LS1 friends dont want me to get one, they are trying to talk me into buying an LS1. I guess since i have already beaten them with a Buick v6 they will feel really bad getting beat with a 4 cylinder.:thumb:

actually,dude.. if i was a pushrod lover,i would own a mustang,or a camaro,or something along those lines,but do i? no,i'm on my second DSM,because i love these cars,and the 4g63 in general. so you,sir,can also,have a nice day!

I have offered proof, go look at the sites I gave you...sorry I don't have a scanner to scan my timeslip...plus you still wouldn't believe me anyway...

BTW what is your altitude...when its about about 700 feet ls1's have a tendancy to start slowing down...I am at sea level, at one of the fastest tracks in the country...I know its two big pluses for my time, but its my home track
 
I believe you Iceman, I just found it wierd because over here in STL I see a lot of LS1s that never see 13.20s. But I have spoken with a couple of buddies from our local car club and they say they've done it too. Do you understand my point? A lot of the times you'll get guys who say they did it "bone stock" and then they will admit they had this or that done and try to play it off like it does not help. Kinda like the guy who says he did it stock except for the power programmer. I have heard on Fbodys those things make a big difference. BTW drag radials only gave you .25?? Also have you ever seen Larry Catos(PaiN) infamous wheelie?
 
I have seen the wheelie pic...one of the best

The DR's only gave me .25 cause I was on a stock clutch, and it wasn't too happy about a couple of drag launchs...I could drop it at 3500-3700 rpms and not spin the tires...

I am not saying that ls1's all run that low stock...but with a good driver, track and 6spd its very possiable.

BTW...its not you that I am really referring to...you have just been sceptical...just like if I went and posted that I had run a 14.2 on a stock talon
 
This thread is completely useless. Who gives a crap if they've seen a car run this or that. You don't really know anything about the car or the driver so what does it matter?

I have raced a buddy of mine with 95z28 (I know, lt-1). He has borla exhaust, cold air intake, some power programmer(chip?), and just replaced all his pulleys. btw, it is a brand new engine and has only about 7000 miles on it. You can see my mods in my profile (16g, etc), and I raced him off a roll, and beat him every time. From second, going 40, up to about 120, I gain about 3 cars on him. He used to talk trash about my car, but after I beat him, he was suprised, and said: "your car's pretty quick". Ls-1's are supposed to be a bit faster, so try him.
 
LS1s are quite a bit faster than the LT1. From what I have heard they use a different head,cams, etc. I have beaten several LT1s but LS1s I need a highway pull for that one most of the time.

Also one thing people fail to mention is the LS6 fbody which is even better than the LS1. They had two run at Gateway the other night.

LS1's are an entirely differant engine...nothing except for the lifters are the same. biggest differances are aluminum block, compression, and heads. All varients (Z28, SS, TA, WS6) all put out about 350hp stock F-body's put out a little bit more to the wheels usually because of the corvettes independent suspension.

LS6's (Z06 motor) never came in the F-body...though some people have put them in. One by me has run 12.1 with the internally stock motor(other little mods)

Some dealers sold packages, like the COPO cars, that bumped up the power a little...usually just an intake lid and exhaust....
