Grinding upon acceleration...need help please

My friend just bought a 1990 laser turbo fwd...mods are 16g, 6 puck clutch and a walbro 255. Everytime he presses the gas it grinds. No matter what gear or how hard he accelerates...sounds like a rotor catching in the front but it's not...could it be like a wheel bearing,clutch,axle or whole trans.?, or maybe something else?

I've looked on here and didn't really find a clear answer or similar problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it grind in nutrual also where does it seem to be loudest at ? Try putting the car on jack stands make sure it's safe and run the car slowly while you listen and try to pinpoint the location. Sounds like the tranny is toast.

No grinding in neutral...it's kinda the same in all gears. Sounds like it coming from the passenger side

Sounds like the trans to me. Bad throw out bearing maybe.
