Like the title states, I just got this car running, after replacing the ECU because of the infamous leak issue.

Car starts, runs just fine idles okay. Not excellent but it's not terrible.

Here is my newest issue. I have a terrible grinding popping noise coming from the car while it's running. Not the knock common with a spun bearing, because you can't hear any "slap" as you commonly could refer to it as.

Car has no slave cylinder on it right now, and it won't accept a gear even with the pedal depressed. Only when the car is off it will.

Could this be transmission noise? I'll have sound up later tonight.

if the car has no slave cylinder depressing clutch peddle is doing nothing??... thats why you cant get the car into gear your not disengaging the clutch??

I think he knows the car wont go into gear without the slave cylinder. But he is concerned on the noise that might be from the transmission. Like Rajin said, there is no way to activate the throwout bearing with no slave cylinder. The noise is probably the clutch. Lets see the vid.

This is a stretch, but it could be the throwout bearing/fork bouncing around because there is no slave to hold it still.

Try holding it while the car is running and see if it makes a difference. I doubt it will, but it wont hurt to try.

Video turned out useless, but if you want to PM me your number, I'll send it too you.

I lose all sound when I try to upload it from my phone.

It's consistent with engine speed.
Like the clutch disc has broken into pieces. It has a aftermarket flywheel that I didn't install.

I don't have any time on my cell. Hmm..You said the noise is consistent with the engine speed? Definatly sounds like the noise is coming from the clutch area. Why not put a slave cylinder back on it? LOL. Thats where I would start unless your clutch is hacked to hell now.

Kid I bought it from ####ed the old slave, I had to get a new one. I've in the time of ownership, replaced a leaked ecu, plugs and wires.

She starts, this is the last issues. I'm betting the clutch is busted to shit LOL.

I would be leaning towards that too. I have to believe the noise you hear is coming from there though. So unless you hear two noises, I wouldn't be too worried that anything is wrong in the engine.

I've ruled out the block. Because it isn't consistent slap and doesn't change in pitch, just goes with the engine speed.

It's a grinding noise, any grinding in the block and it'd have already had catastrophic failure.

Don't start it anymore until you get the slave cylinder in. You don't want to cause more damage. Get it driveable and take it for a spin. Hopefully, no knock/grinding noise.
