Hey Guys when i pin my wheel in either direction i hear/feel a grinding noise and then lose power to my amp? its strange i know.

Also my oil pressure, and CEL keep coming on then going off whenever they feel like it.

My PIAA foglights wont turn on but the relay clicks when i turn my lights on?

And lastly my factory boost gauge is sitting at half boost when i turn my car on or at idle. I'll probably just get an aftermarket boost gauge but for now i want to know whats wrong.

I know its alot but i want to have my DSM smooth running!! Thanks alot! :thumb:

You really shouldn't pin your wheel in either direction. When you do so, you are putting a strain on the power steering pump, which isn't good. It also puts a slight strain on the motor because the pump is still trying to pump' but it can't'. This may be what is causing your amp to lose power. Hope this helps.

The factory "boost guage" is not accurate. I would definately get an aftermarket gauge. This gauge shows what the ecu "thinks" is going on, an aftermarket boost tap will tell you the truth.

About the ps pump. It sounds like the bearing may be going bad. Let the car run and look under the hood at the power steering pulley, if there is any side to side movement replace it. Also the brackets that hold the pump on have come loose on me before, look for movement where it shouldnt be or backed out bolts. Is the wire hooked up that goes to the pump? Hope this helps.

It looks like your alternator belt is damaged or not tight enough.
When you pin your wheels, it puts more load on the P/S pump, since it's driven by the water pump pulley, which is driven by the alternator belt, it looks like your P/S pump is putting a lot of resistance on the alt. belt and making it skip.

Wow Thanks guys that really helped! Turned out it was the PS pulley, it was loose but i tightened it up and the grinding went away. I checked all my wiring and didnt find any problems, but after i put everything back the amp losing power went away! haha, now if only i could get these foglights to work...

By chance Joey does one of your positive battery connections create a larger then normal spark when it is first connected? It could be posible that your foglights could have a short. If they are shorted out then you would also hear the relay click when the positive is put on the battery. If at all posible I would try another relay for your foglights as well.

not sure if this will help but on my neighbors truck he has PIAA fog lights and his came with a type of transformer to step the voltage up on the lights so they would be brighter for off road use... if yours came with a type a transformer and it wasnt installed that could cause the clicking also because through the relay not enough power is going throw to power the lights... hope this helps
