My car was making this Loud noise everytime I went passed 2nd gear...I thought it was the front right wheel bearing so I went ahead and changed the Wheel bearing hub. I went ahead and drove after everything was done, the noise was still there...nothing changed. I went back to my mechanic and asked him to get in the car so he could hear what I was hearing. He inmediatly told me it was the tranny. We went back and raised the car up and I put it into gears, once i shifted from second to third gear that noised was odvious. The noise goes from 3rd geard all the way to 5th. It sucks because its damn loud....sounds like gears grinding. He checked the Tranny fluid it came out fine, he also checked the transfer case fluid and it was fine. Now i need a rebuild:mad: Bad timing since my pockets are tight...but i'm going to take this opportunity and upgrade the tranny since i'm upgrading the power. I got a quote from: DSG - DENT Sport Garage these guys and said they'll do it for $600 dollars...Is that a good price? I was refered to them by a member on BAYSTATEDSM.ORG "they know our transmission" he said. Sorry for the long ass story...but i'm concern about this...this is my daily driver and i need to get it fix Asap. I got a '97 GSX btw. Thanks!

I dont know much about that place at all. $600 quite honestly is pretty cheap for a rebuild on a tranny. I am also having my tranny rebuilt but with oem internals for about $900 or so. Let me know if they are any good if you decide to go with them.

Is there Anything Else I need to Inspect before sending the tranny to get rebuild? The Noise hasn't gotten any worse...sounds more like fast rattleling than gears grinding together. I dont want to go ahead and spend $600 bucks when it could be something simple to fix.

Also, one thing to put out there as an FYI.. the gears constantly mesh so they can't grind. it's the dogs and synchros you hear from what i was told by TrE when i bought my stage 2.5 w/ quiafe (I don't really tear down trannies exceot in motorcycles and i thought they wer the only ones with constant mesh, but its actually they are the ones with fullsequential boxes)
