greddy type s vs greddy type rs

i was just wondering what the differences between the two blow off valves, the greddy type s and the greddy type rs. which one would you recommend and why? thanks

They're both tried and proven BOV's, but I think (and I don't have one myself) the type RS seems like it would be a tad harder to recirculate. The type S just comes ready out of the box, but I think with the RS you are forced to take the horn-thing off

Its always been my understanding that the Type S is just better quality...kinda like the difference between an alpine type R and and alpline Type X...

Type s has probly the best sounding whistle noise when it lets out air. in my opinion

By the way isnt the type RS the new one that recently came out??? i know the type r is the older one but if im not mistaken the type rs is the new one.

The type RS was made to replace the type S. The type S is no longer being made.

Not necessarily. There are ups and downs to each. You just need to weigh the negative for each and see which one is better in the end. Hopefully someone can help you better.

oh man i think i am more confused now then i was before this thread haha, because i just recieved the hahn turbo kit i ordered and they are sending me the rs which they billed me for and everything, but i ordered the type s so i am really just wondering if i should cancel it and get the type s like i wanted in the first place or just go with the rs which is on back order right now. Hahn stopped selling the type s

ive actually had both so hopefully i can help you out a little. As far as sound goes, the type s has more of a higher pitched whistle to it, while the type rs is more of like a big woosh of air. The type rs has a lil recirculation piece that screws right on to the bov which costs like 25 or something around there. The only downside to the type s is that the adjustment screw stripped easily and leakes, which was the reason why i had to switch to the new type rs which for a few months now i have been well pleased with.

The Type S goes PSHEEEEEE and is purple.
The Type RS goes PSHAAAAAAA and is blue.

That's about the only difference.

Adjustment does not change the sound. Make it just hard enough to stay closed under max boost to avoid compressor surge.

It's quite a task to get the perfect middle range of hard and soft when adjusting the RS. I've been adjusting for a few days and i'm still lookin for the perfect spot.

Ok, allow me to rephrase. Adjusting is not intended to change the sound. If it does it's only a side effect to its primary purpose. It is to adjust the level of compression on the spring inside the BOV so you get to the point where it does not blow open under boost yet does not remain closed after you let off the throttle. The purpose of this is to provide performance and prevent compressor surge. However, I guess since you are adjusting for sound, performance is of secondary importance to you.

No skillz is right...the primary reason for the soft-hard settings is to change the setting of the spring to prevent compressor surge usually noticed by the fluttering sound. You are not gonna get the same sound like the type s from the type rs, ive tried many settings just for the sake of trying i guess. but yeah overall the type rs does pretty much sound like a big burst of air, no unique sound to it and no high pitch like the type s. on the type s though the softer u went the more louder the high pitched sound went, so u can try going softer, see if that helps ## sound if its bothering u. as long as its not fluttering then id say ## pretty much good...sorry for the lengthy post

I'm going to be throwing the Greddy Type-S on to my car from our broke VR-4. It was really loud on his car with all stock piping and just a cone filter. I'm really curious as to how it'll sound on my car w/ all hard piping and no silencer before the SMIC. I'm going to paint the adapter and the bov first before I throw it on, don't wanna go through referee again.

I currently have the Greddy Hard Piping for my 2g with the Type RS, and I can't complain it hold so much better then stock. Sound really isn't a factor for me. Mine flutters just a little bit under low boost, or doesnt blow off at all at like 2500 rpm shifts, well in that area atleast, but at high boost it sounds nasty. I wish i could have got the type s though. sorry to side track but i like the rs. if anything cup up the greddy hard piping and get an HKS Flange and the HKS SSQV Blow of valve if you going for mainly sound or get the TurboXS RFL (Real ####ing Loud) Blow off valve and Piping.

ok i have mine and it does a lil fluttering sound at i think low boost levels but when i get a bit aggresive its that nice pshaaaaa sound. Ok as for the fluttering is that good or bad? what do i do to change that? which setting soft or harder? im learning this aspect so please help me out overall im very satisfied with the type rs just need to learn how to adjust and why.

im into the performance aspect as the sound is secondary, BUT i do need to know what sounds are good and bad meaning is that fluttering when i let go of the gas like at 2500rpms good or bad, do i need to adjust to hard or soft? sorry for repeating myself as i really want to figure this out and set it to where it needs to be
