Hi my question is, is the Greddy type S bov significantly louder than the 1g bov?? becuase i cant see the reason to spend over $100 more if you can make both of them hold the same amount of boost and both recirculate

a crushed 1g bov can hold the same amount of boost as the greddy unit. the greddy makes a different sound due to different charecteristics, it sounds more like a high pitched squawk from a bird, whereas the 1g sounds like a loud whoosh. the greddy is more expensive, but alot of people like the look of them. i have the greddy, and i bought it over the 1g for that same reason, cause i liked how it looked and so people dont ask "whats that thing" when its obvious its a bov. also the greddy unit is adjustable, where the 1g is not.

if you dont want to spend the extra 100 for looks then id say pick the 1g and have it crushed.

Alright thanks, no i dont mind spending the extra money at all but only if its necessary. I dont really care about looks so if it really doesnt make a louder sound but only just a different variation ill stick with getting the 1g bov and crush it eventually.

you need a vac pump and a vice. you crush it till it opens at 20 mmhg on the gauge. you can't just stick it in a vice and crush it. personally i would rather have a aftermarket bov. i have a hks. i like it. its real high pitch though. a buddy has a tial. it different sounding, but its cool to. he had a greedy till the adjuster stripped out.

yeah how would i go about doing this?
Did you try searching for the word "Crushed".
It will show you what it takes and how to do it.

Smarter to do than just "crushing it"

To crush a 1G BOV, take a socket smaller in diameter than the top circle on the BOV and place them in a vice, socket against the top circle on the BOV and start tightening. When tightening the socket with "crush" that top area. I believe you only want to crush it about 3mm. What it does is increases the tension on the inner spring so you'll be able to approx. 2 more PSI.
