I just bought and installed a greddy type S BOV on my 96 gst. It came with very minimal directions and acutally some of the directions were in japanese! My first problem is that when i go to let it blow it kind of sputters and doesnt make the spiiisshhhh noise till the very end. I thought it made the spiiisssshhhh noise only! I was wondering if that was normal or how i correct it because i really dont like the noise that it is making right now. Also i have a boost controller and can adjust my boost. But according to my autometer boost gauge it is boosting about 12 psi in first and about 15 psi in second and a little bit more very gear. How do i correct this so i can have it boosting at 15 psi all of the time. Thanks for the help!

whenever there is vacuum in the manifold there is vacuum in the intake track.

HA HA HA HA HA
there is NEVER engine vacuum in the ic pipes or anywhere else then after the throttle plate. there is suction from the engine's lower pressure pulling in air, but never anything much lower than atmospheric pressure (unless your air filter is completely plugged?)In any case a bov is a simple pressure operated machine, a diaphragm with pressures applied to both sides and pressure applied to the bottom of the plunger. It is severely detrimental to it's operation to connect manifold source to both sides of the diaphragm because what is the point? No work will be done if pressure is the same. So all that is opening your bov is the lack of pressure at the top of the valve compared with the pressure in the ic pipe. The result will be a sluggish bov that may or may not work OK, but it is nowere near optimal.
Now with a charge pipe pressure applied to one side and manifold vacuum applied to the other, there will be a large pressure difference whenever the throttle is closed and it will open the bov very quickly releasing the boost charge that much faster, making the turbo's life that much easier.

i have a greddy type s on my conquest tsi. i have the bottom nipple hooked up after the throttle body to a line that senses vac/ and boost. the boost keeps the bov close and when the engine goes to vacum it lets the bov open and vent out. leave the top nippel alone and uncapped. the type s makes a whistling sound when it blows off. and adjust the top screw for different amounts of boost just keep adjusting it till it blows off and there is no compressor surge. i had to mess wiht mine for a while to get it adjusted right. but i love the sound of it :thumb:
