has anyone tried this product? i bolted on their type-s a couple of weeks ago, and am quite happy with it, but read taht usually people who buy this just end up going with the 1g bov, and then maybe crushing it as well.

i was thinking about getting the rs, but read that it did NOT recirculate back, but today i found that there is a kit offered that does, found here . so i was wondering if anyone took a chance with the new greddy product and if they liked it or not.

we just finished installing a Type-RS bov in my friend's 95 Tsi along with an UICP and the thing looks, sounds and performs great. He is running vented right now (I know, it's lame) but I hope to convince him to buy a recirculation kit for it so it performs even better and doesn't idle like crap.

oh and right now he's running it with his T-25 pusing about 13lbs of boost

Anyone know if it holds like 18-22 psi? I have a 50 trim and need a bov. I can't afford a tial and was thinking about the type-s. Thoughts? Oh yeah, Does the type-s and rs fit on the 1g flange? :dsm:

no, the Type-S and the Type-RS are the same Greddy flange but are NOT the same flange as a 1g BOV.

according to their site:
GReddy Blow Off Valves are easily adjustable to prevent both premature boost leakage and compressor surge. Each is made of durable cast and billet aluminum frame and the valve to diaphragm ratio provides performance that cheap piston types cannot offer. The spring stiffness adjustment screw and 3 different sizes give the GReddy user the option to match vehicles with mild upgrades to heavily tuned engines. Also available in an easy to install kit form for many turbocharged vehicles.

I know this isn't an exact respone to your how much psi question, but I'm almost positive it would be fine running 22 psi.

Thanks, thats what I was wanting to hear, Anyone running bigger turbo's with either of these valves?

i have a 50 trim with a type-rs, its got a 40mm valve instead of the type-s' 37mm, it will hold up to 25 at least, the type-s is rated at 22-23

I use the RS with my FP Red, no problems up to 22psi yet.
hows it sound on your red? When i get a bigger turbo my type s sound was knocked in half. It made no sound really..

It souds great. Exactly what I was looking for. It's more of a woosh sound than the whistle of the HKS SSQV. I was worried about it sounding like the HKS piece when I ordered it, but I'm very pleased with it. It does have some low boost troubles though on my car, it flutters a little under 10psi. I have it set as loose as possible, doesn't leak but can't stop the little bit of flutter. So I don't know how it would perform with smaller turbos running little boost, maybe someone else with a different setup could elaborate.

sound clip time!

Mine is hella loud its a loud woooooosh, but besides that it flutters under 5lbs on my 14b I hope it doesnt cause any damage, but I really like it. I am vented btw, but tahts with blowthrough set up of cource.

I run a SBR GT-14, usually around 20+ PSI and it seems to work fine (until I hit around 25PSI, but I'm not sure anymore if that's the BOV or something else). If you're going to run over 25 PSI, though, I'd recommend a Tial BOV, or something that is known to be bullet proof at higher boost levels. There is no real hard proof on how much this will hold before it starts leaking, so I'd invest that ~$200 a bit better (if you're running lots of boost).

running my type-s on a 60-1 works great to 21 psi, no problems at all.
did you big turbo guys also notice that the BOV sound got quieter when you went to a big turbo? Mine used to be so loud on my 14b and stuff, but now its wisper quiet.. I just ordered a greddy type RS, im hoping it holds boost better and doesnt leak like my turbo XS RFL

I'm running the Type RS, on my evo3 16G,. at 20psi.

over 4000rpm,. the bov sound like the 1G one,. but more more more louder with a big pshiiiiiiiiii under 4000RPM,. it sound like the HKS SSQV,. I wondering if my Greddy type RS surge??

oh,. I'm runnig un maft/GM setup blow through and vented the bov.

I gonna put a clip later.

are most of you running it all the way loose? mine flutters like hell not even on boost and it's annoying, i've had it tightened all the way with no help and even took a spring out of it just for now

can't hear a thing except the car... sorry...

that and some quick shifting jsut when it starts boosting..

WTF Are you sure that you couldnt hear the BOV? I heard it flutter, heard it blow off at 20psi, and all that good stuff. It does kinda sound like the HKS a little with the flutter, I agree. I think its a decent sounding BOV. I just lost my 1g somewhere in my garage too  , right when im supposed to be putting the engine back in the car shortly

I am getting my front mount setup soon and will be running blow thru, and was deciding between the greddy type s and rs. My friend with a 2g runs the type s and it sounds great. I've heard that the rs just sounds like a 1g bov with the recirc tube disconnected, whereas the type s has that whistle that sounds so cool. I think I'm going with the type s. :talon:
