Yesterday, I was playing around in a old parking lot after it rained. I accidentally missed a shift , and revved the engine to 7,500k. Then car didn't feal right after that it'd build boost, but there was no power. The engine didn't sound different. But it did sound like the #1 cylinder was a bit more ticking going on. I putted home, and lined up the timing marks. Sure enough TDC on the crank was more like almost straight up on 0*.

I removed the cover, and the balance shaft belt fell out in my hand...Shredded! It was absolutely murdered. I don't see how the thing didn't just blow the whole timing. It only looked to be 2 teeth off When I got down to the belt.

I reset everything, and left the balance shaft belt off completely. I'm lucky I'm not visiting the motor man... I'd have to sell my bike or something:nono: The engine sounds normal with a little more ticking then used to be. I'm praying. I may just go ahead, and get another engine to hold. I found a 6 bolt for 250 dollars that I could be rebuilding.:D Now if I could only sell this transmission! LOL

Right on. I'll be doing that soon as I can get a gauge.... on the other hand maybe the guys at the parts store can let me borrow one for a few.

After it happened, and i seen it had jumped time I was sweating bullets until I got it apart. I was shocked when the BS belt fell out in my hand. I took it out last night it, it seemed to do fine, I pulled the boost back and hit the cruise strip for a while, I didn't have an issue it ran great.

Yeah I've heard of people taking their timing cover off and finding out that it's been two teeth off for who knows how long. Sounds like you just got lucky. But I'm not sure about just taking the BS belt off, I've never heard of anyone taking it off w/out doing the BS delete, might want to look into that.

And autozone will let you rent a compression test so I've heard.

Well if you remember a previous thread I started with the alt. bearing bad. I checked it then. I also had to loosen the balance shaft belt, and set it a few teeth, and hell I'd say not but maybe tightened it too much? Never know the belts were what 3 months old? crazy.

I've seen where guys removed the belt, and didn't run them at all. Then again the rear shaft is still there.

Update, I got to Auto Zone today. Did a compression test in the parking lot. My buddy said the #1 cylinder went up past 150 while I was cranking it. When I stopped it settled on 125 or so, on all four none of them was below that. He said #4 went a bit past 150 while cranking. Maybe 165. So Thats good news.
