I checked around a little bit but couldn't really find an answer to this on the forums, is there any way you guys know of to by pass my governor without going to a chip?
At 130 my eclipse puts on the brakes, wondering if there's a fairly inexpensive way to bypass this, as well as if it's easy enough for someone like me who's still a newbie.

If not, and chipping it is the only way, any suggestions for a good chip and where to get it?
Thanks!

Theres no need to go any faster since your not trapping over 130 at the track. Your suspension probably cant handle those speeds either, since it looks ebay slammed. What are your tires rated for?

Lol tired of going 137...

It's not on a track but it's an old airfield around my area, lots of people go there to test their cars away from the public for safety, and honestly I have no idea what the suspension or tires are rated for, thats something you definently have a bug in my ear for now, but it'll all be coming together this winter.
No stone will be left unturned or any cheap routes taken on my time, that's for certain

Your not trapping those speeds in the 1/4th, you won't be unless you have a tuning solution that will allow you to bypass the govenor, and you don't need to go that fast on the street, and abandoned airfield unless you own it or have permission to be there, or on any autocross track. I highly doubt any speedway with long enough straights to hit 130 is gonna let you run without a tech inspection.

ANd thank you snowboarder for the link

Do you know if it'd be possible for me to find a ecu out of a 97 GSX and just swap mine with it to take Care of it?

Like I said boost its not on the street, and I have permission to be there as long as I agree not to sue if I hurt myself or equipment =P

I'm not one of the wreck less teen drivers to try and achieve these speeds on a crowded road or highway in the city, couldnt afford the speeding tickets!

And this definently isn't in the 1/4, just top speed in general

Yes. That would work as long as your not automatic. But your gonna hurt yourself unless you take care of the suspension that is 14 years old, and upgrade your tires to ones that can handle it.

But why bother? Get an evo 8/9 ecu, or a 95 eeprom and dsm link.

I was looking at EPROMs as well but to be honest this is just gonna be my "go fast DD" and it won't be going real fast very often, didn't know what a link and chip would run me finance wise, but yes my 2G is an auto, the only major downfall of the car in its entirety..

F**k me haha, id definently rather just go with snowboarders link, remove the resistors and solder in a 10k

I'm sure there's more to it than that but it's the gyst of what i got

R as it says the easy way out would just be clipping out the single config resistor

That's what id do it seems to be my best option.

Unless you're good at soldering, I would recommend paying someone $10-20 to do it. Soldering small crap like that is a PITA and very easy to damage surrounding parts

i have never soldered so +1 to you for recommending that, thanks! :thumb:

lucky for me working at ABC, my installer is great at that kind of thing so i think hes gonna hook me up, he also has a TON of resistors in his garage ranging from 10k up to 40k!

would it make a difference if i went with a 20-40k vs. a 10?

10k is to make sure that no extra current is going through that, if the guide says 10k, stick with that.

spot soldering is hard, especially for a beginner, regular soldering is nothing though.

And aren't you David that I talked to the other day on the phone about it in the classifieds section!? ;)
Haha
