Ok there are two wires (one yellow, the other yellow with an orange stripe), that have the connectors hacked off of them. I know one of them goes to the sensor in the pic but i dont know about the other one. I was looking in the dsm manual and there should be an oil pressure gauge sending unit and an oil pressure switch. Could i possibly be missing a sensor or what because thats the only sensor i could find? Which sensor is in the pic the switch or the gauge sensor? By the way i have a 90 sixbolt with air cooled oil in my 97 if that helps at all.

That's the Oil Pressure Switch - Just hook up either wire - turn the Ignition Switch to On & see if the Idiot Lite comes on or the Oil Pressure Gauge pegs low (or high). My guess is that someone has plugged the port where your Oil Pressure Gauge Sending Unit (gold looking bell) went on the Oil Filter Housing - It's also possible they relocated it somewhere else on the motor but the options are few - You could Tee off the port where the Switch is & buy a new Oil Gauge Sending Unit ($50 fm Mitsu) - Use a Stainless fitting w/ Teflon tape & replace the Switch with a new one if you do.

alright, im off to the junkyard to get me an oil pressure sending unit. I did notice several plugs in the filter housing, does it matter which one i put the sending unit into? Also i touched the wire to the sensor and my oil pressure gauge shot up past high, so im assuming that it was the wrong wire correct?

wait, the sending unit should be threaded in there, the wire just came off.

btw, is that a 90/91 motor? i see the lines going to an external cooler.

edit: nm, i just reread your original post.

well, i dont see the sending unit threaded in there and i got one at the junkyard and there is nothing that looks like the one i just got threaded in the engine.
